William James Trembath (13/4/1877-27/3/1930) was a draper who lived with his wife Mary Florence (nee Ellis) ( 1877 -29/7/1932) at 521 Hargreaves Street. They had married in 1901. The photograph shows George Garnsworthy Bennett (G G Bennett) on his delivery rounds in his butcher's cart. The building is a barn which was at the back of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Happy Valley. (Another photo of the hotel, located in the "Prince of Wales Hotel" file, shows the barn next to the main hotel building.) The photograph is undated, however G G Bennett is known to have established his own butchery business in Sussex Street in about 1896.Original photograph which has been pasted on to beige-coloured card. The photograph shows a man sitting in a two-wheeled, horse-drawn cart. The cart is outside a weatherboard building which has a porch supported by posts. Under the porch there is a wide entrance to the building, with a picket gate. The bluestone church was designed by Ballarat architect Henry Richards Casselli, and constructed at a cost of 730 pounds. The church was opened on 18 April 1869. The Sunday School Hall was built c.1879. The church was closed in April 2015, and was subsequently sold. St. Andrew's Uniting Church, formerly the Presbyterian church includes two different church buildings as well as a new addition built at the rear of the 1904 red brick building. A small weather board structure was used as a church until the Romanesque brick building opened in 1904. The property is Craiglee, which was one of the first vineyards established in Sunbury in 1865 by Stuart Johnson. It is sited on the east bank of Jackson Creek and fronts onto Macedon Street. Frank Wright was a renown resident of Smeaton, where he was born. He lived at Laura Villa, and attended Smeaton State School. His father William was a gold miner and his mother's name was Sarah. Their family won many singing and instrumental awards. Frank was tutored by Percy Code and became the Australian Open Cornet Champion by the age of eighteen. A year later, Frank conducted the City of Ballarat Band, and later the Ballarat Soldiers’ Memorial Band. He formed the Frank Wright Frisco Band and Frank Wright and his Coliseum Orchestra. These bands won many South Street awards, and Frank as conductor won many awards in the Australian Band Championship contest. In 1933 Frank Wright sailed to England to conduct the famous St Hilda’s Band and was later appointed Musical Director of the London County Council, where he organized many amazing concerts in parks, in and around the London district. He was made Professor of Brass and Military Band Scoring and conducted at the Guildhall of Music and Drama. Frank was often invited to adjudicate Brass Band Championships around Europe, in Australia, including South Street and in New Zealand. The Frank Wright Medal at the Royal South Street competition is awarded to an individual recognized as making an outstanding contribution to brass music in Australia. The Church of England Parish Hall in Linton was built in 1909-1910, using what was at the time an innovative building technique - concrete blocks with no frame.
