The photograph is of one of the Sunbury Cultural Rings sites. There are three Aboriginal earthen rings. The one in the foreground which is clear of weeds has been formed as a round dip in the earth and it is thought it was used as an Aboriginal gathering place. They are owned and managed by the Wurundjeri Tribe Land Council.The rings bear evidence of Aboriginal settlement and land use in the area. The puppets were made by German POW's in camp 13 and sent to internment camp 3 as gifts for the children at Christmas time.Hand painted light pink paper mache head with goatee beard, black eyes and eyebrows. Is wearing a black top hat and has black short hair and side burns. There are no body parts. His legs are just his trousers of checked tweed. His shirt is navy blue with high neck with white trim and 6 gold tacks securing head to body. Sleeves are long with white cuffs. Hands are brown paper mache.
