This item has been donated by Peter Andrew Sibree who served with the Royal Australian Infantry Corps. He did two tours of Vietnam. The first was from May 1965 to December 1965 with the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and the second tour was from November 1969 to November 1970 with the 8th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment. Donald John Juillerart who is the second soldier in the photograph also did two tours of Vietnam. The first was from May 1965 to June 1966 with 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and the second was from November 1969 to November 1970 with the 8th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment.A newspaper article titled, He wants to stay at war, about Peter Sibree and Donald Juillerat. It is reported that soon after 7 RAR was raised in 1965, the battalion adopted the pig as its mascot after the commanding officer rebuked them for the unsatisfactory state of the soldiers' mess at Puckapunyal saying, "You are nothing but a mob of pigs".Wooden shield-shaped plaque, walnut stained, with 3 metal embellishments.
