The earliest Methodist Church was on the corner of Whitehorse Road and Richards Street, Mitcham. In 1912 the church was removed to a site in Mitcham Road, just north of Whitehorse Road. By 1967 most of their buildings had been moved to the Presbyterian site on the corner of Whitehorse and Doncaster East Roads, Mitcham. Later the two denominations became the Uniting ChurchPhotograph of an organ in the Mitcham Methodist Church some time before the church closed in 1967. (See also NP262 ) Black and white photo of Mitcham Post Office, NE corner of Whitehorse Road and Station Street. Has been site of Mitcham PO for many years - built in 1924. Following the death of Bertha Markham, Postmistress, in 1944, the building was not a PO; it resumed that function in mid 1957: between 1944 and 1957, the post office location was on the same block several buildings to the east of the current site. This building was also the home of Mary Millane (daughter of Bertha Markham) who operated a mixed business here and her husband Harold conducted a studio photographic business from these premises. The Millane family sold the premises to the PMG and vacated the premises in June, 1957, at which time it resumed service as the Mitcham Post Office.mitcham post office -

The Brittania Mall was part of a $5 million development of the Mitcham Shopping centre, begun in 1986. It affected both Edward Street and Brittania Street, part of which had to be re-routed. The guide hall in Brittania Street was removed to Halliday Park Mitcham. Shops on Western side of Britannia Street are located on the site of Barelli's shop, dwelling and bakehouse. To the north of these buildings and across a cobblestone lane now called Enterprise Way was the Salvation Army Citadel, .a further commercial building housing a printer. Erection of this building necessitated demolition of Barelli's stable and reclamation of its horseyard.
