This is the army uniform of James Chester Kerr Trewin a lieutenant in 2/7th and 58/59th Battalions. He served in the Middle East, Syria and New Guinea. James Trewin was wounded in action.This item gives an insight into the human element of World War 11 ensuring that those who were part of the Orbost community and played a vital role during this time are remembered.A khaki coloured WW11 jacket (male) with a cap. There are medals on a strip. Three bronze stars : 1939-1945 Star; Africa Star; Pacific Star. Round silver medals : 1939-1945 Defence Medal ; 1939-1945 Australian Service Medal . There is a Rising Sun - Australian Commonwealth Military Force - on the lapel and on the cap. On left sleeve is a strip of black and red bars.uniform-military trewin-james ww11 -

This is a set of 18 photographs of contractors preparing the foundations for the construction of Lithographic Squadron’s new Printing Building at Fortuna, Bendigo on the 2nd of October 1987. The building was purpose built to house a new computer-controlled Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 five colour lithographic offset Printing Press. The print room was named Wayzgoose Hall after a medieval printing house festival. Wayzgoose Hall and the Speedmaster Press printing capability was commissioned by the Commander of the 3rd Military District BRIG P. Davies AM, ADC on Wednesday 27th June 1990. This occasion is covered in more detail in page 145 of Valerie Lovejoy’s book 'Mapmakers of Fortuna – A history of the Army Survey Regiment’ ISBN: 0-646-42120-4.This is a set of 18 photograph of the foundations being prepared for Lithographic Squadron’s new Printing Building, Army Survey Regiment at Fortuna, Bendigo, 2nd October 1987. First croquet committee in Orbost started up in 1919. (ref : The Whos' Who of Orbost Settlers - Mary Gilbert). Often croquet lawns were in private gardens eg. at Connort (now Moogji)..This shield is part of the history of the Orbost Croquet Club. In the museum, there is also an old copy of the rules of Croquet, a mallet and a photo of the first committee.A wooden shield. Robert Pullar Cameron was a Shire Councillor for many years. He married Penuel Hossack and had a family of James, Flora, Penuel and Alex. Peter Kerr bought the butchery from William Cumming in 1921.This is an example of a hand-written account from an early Orbost business and is a useful research tool.A white paper account with black print, red lines and handwritten pencil information.
