The Anglican Cheltenham parish was created in 1865 by excising a portion of the parish of St Andrews Brighton. A small brick church was completed in 1867 to serve a rural community stretching from Brighton South (Moorabbin) to Mordialloc. 1867 St Matthew's Church of England was erected in Cheltenham beside the Nepean Highway near Charman Road. The early settlers established a tennis club, cricket team and social groups. Clothing - ANDREW - MONSANT COLLECTION: LADIES PETTICOAT, Early 1900's
White cotton full length ladies petticoat. Made of five pieces - two at the back, three at the front. Back opening. Very tightly gathered onto a waistband (4cm). Back section of waistband has horizontal stitching to form casings for four narrow cotton ties. Ties extend from hips on either side across the back opening to be used for tightening and closing the opening. Lower edge finished with cotton cord. Printed obituary with black and white photo of Edward Clarence Dyason. He was born in Bendigo in 1886, the son of Isaac Dyason who was the financial and property manager for George Lansell. After World Was 2, he settled in England. He represented Australia at the British Commonwealth Relations Conference in Canada, on the way back to England he died at sea on 3 October 1949. Book - BENDIGO SALEYARDS COLLECTION: PURCHASE REQUISITION BOOK
City of Bendigo Purchase Requisition, dated from 22/7/1988 to 17/7/1989. Numbered from 62301 to 62400. Book has a blue and white crocodile skin pattern on the cover and has Sale yards written in red pen at the top of the front cover The spine is bound with tan coloured tape. Pages are white with a blue carbon copy. A blue card attached to the back cover is used between each requisition. Purchases and repairs were authorised by J Richmond and J M Criminis.
