The scarred tree is located on a hillside in a local reserve. The bark has been removed in the past to make a boat or other large utensil. Melbourne's skyline can be seen faintly in the distance in the middle of the photograph with local suburban development in the middle distance. This is one of a series of Aboriginal rings which are found in the Sunbury area. Students from Bulla Primary School were taken on an excursion to Williamstown Beach. The garden in the image was taken in the grounds of Glenara Homestead at Bulla, which was owned by Alister Clark of rose breeding fame. The move to build the Mechanics Institute was started in 1883 and the foundation stone was laid by Lady Janet Clarke in 1885. The hat belonged to Edna Vlassopoulos who with her husband Andrew, had a poultry farm and market garden in the old Westmeadows township and later at Bulla. The hat was purchased to wear at a family wedding.A pink straw hat with a pink silk folded band wrapped above a narrow brim. There is a full-blown pink silk rose which is a trim on the RHS of the crown. The police with their rescue helicopter visited the Bulla Primary School and talked to the students about their work and the importance of the rescue helicopter. he children were also able to see the helicopter up close. Scottish miller and immigrant, John Eadie established his water-driven flour mill on Jacksons Creek in Sunbury in 1861.To make of a sufficient water supply to operate the mill, he built a weir and a water-race to drive it. Some of these can be seen today. The machinery for the mill was bought from Scotland and transported here. The mill continued to operate until 1914. At that time the 20 ton metal wheel and the iron roofing removed to aid the war effort.This mill is one of a number that were built along the water courses in the Sunbury-Bulla area to process the wheat grown in the area.A non-digital black and white photograph in post card format of a an old bluestone mill building sited on the bank of a watercourse in a deep valley with bare hills in the background. The railway land between Horne Street and the railway line was developed for commercial and industrial purposes during the late 1970s and early 1980s. The photograph is of the Jacksons Creek taken in the vicinity of Mill Falls, near the former 'Springvale' winery, which was downstream from the Sunbury township.
