HMNZS was a Castle Class Anti - Submarine Minesweeper. Launched in October 1943 the ship was built from kauri timber on a steel frame. It was decommissioned in 1946 and later sold to the fishing industry.Ward room plaque to His Majesty"s New Zealand Ship Waikato.

Amaryllis was the first fishing boat built by the Haldane Brothers in Port Fairy 1935. A well boat was on the Port Fairy register from 1936 -1943 in the name of W.H.Haldane. She was requisitioned by the armed services during 1943 and did not return to Port Fairy. The fishing boat 'Bluenose' a well boat was built in 1923 by Ned Jack at Launceston; owned c 1927 by Johnstone and Main when it first visited Port Fairy - bought by Syd Patterson and N.A.McDonald at Portland 1927. Sold to George Williams at Port Fairy 1928. From c 1930 to June 1937 it was owned by Williams and Ralph Davis in partnership - then owned by Ralph Davis alone. The fishing boat "Amaryllis" was built by the Haldane Brothers in 1935 on Griffith Island for their own use while they were lighthouse keepers. The boat was a well boat RFB 1260 on the Port Fairy register 1936 - 1943 in the name of W.H.Haldane She was owned and operated by the brothers until she was requisitioned by the armed services during 1943. The harpoon would have been attached to a long harpoon pole. A rope would be attached to the harpoon and used like a fishing line to draw the whale, or other large catch, alongside the whaleboat. These cups come from Miura in Japan. Miura is the sister city of Warrnambool and is situated on the Miura Peninsula 50 kilometres south of Tokyo. It has a population of 56,000 people and is the centre of a fishing industry with some vegetable produce. The sister city ties with Warrnambool date from 1992 when the Warrnambool Miura Friendship Committee was formed and the cities share in cultural exchanges. These cups are of interest as a memento of the ties between the city of Warrnambool and the city of Miura in Japan. These white china cups come from Miura in Japan. They have the name ‘Miura’ in blue cursive script on one side and on the other side is a multi-coloured image of a boat with fish and fishermen. The cups also have Japanese writing on the bottom edge.
