Receipt book - for receipt of cash/badges or delivery of badges. Use by the BTPS early 1980's when tram/train lapel badge sales were a big thing and the Society had a number of "agents". Book consists of 50 duplicate receipts, white original, pink duplicate. Bound into a book, with card covers, light blue cloth binding and stapled. Original receipts have perforation on the left hand side. Each sheet has name of printer on left hand butt side. Manual, Ballarat Tramway Museum (BTM), "Traffic Operating Guidelines", c1990
Guides Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society conductors about their duties, ticket issuing, pay-ins sales etc. Was the first version of this document. Prepared by Peter Walker. The first version was issued 1/11/1989. see item 8875. Was collected from the depot 1/2001 when a new version of the Guidelines was issued. In use from c1990 to 2001 as a sample copy and loaned to new conductors. Document originally prepared by Peter Walker, who passed away 24/9/2005 - see Reg Item 6838 for Obituary.Demonstrates BTPS documentation for crew use.Folder containing in plastic sheets, the 1/5/1990 version of the Ballarat Vintage Tramway Operating Guidelines. The document is a photocopied version of "Issue 2 / 1.5.90" on yellow paper. It consists of 33 sheets which have been amended in a number of places to adjust for cash floats, fares, museum sales tin. Photograph was used on the front cover of the 1989-90 Annual Report of the BTPS. Caption details "Tram 33 approaches Depot Junction in Wendouree Parade on a quite Winter's day. Has strong association with the event of laying the track across Wendouree Parade during Nov. 1975, an essential task to enable the re-opening of the tramway by the BTPS.Bromide of a black and white photograph of rails being laid to cross Wendouree Parade to access the new BTPS depot access track. Excavation done, first main curve rail being positioned using a crane. Date of photograph late November 1974. Depot Junction in background. BTPS Annual report states that site work began 22/11/1974. Newspaper clipping from The Courier Ballarat, Saturday Sept. 19, 1981 - Saturday Magazine - featuring the BTPS and 10 years since the closure of the Ballarat System. Article contains story of the Ballarat tramways, the establishment of the Museum, closure and statement from Richard Gilbert, General Manager of the BTPS. Article written by John Dyall. Notes that the depot extension is to be "officially opened today" and that coupons are printed in the newspaper, giving free rides for the day. A4 size sheet of paper, printed up as a BTPS (BTM) conductor's Revenue Journal for Adults fares as 60c, Children 30 and all day cards $1.20. Standard BTPS Revenue Journal format that was altered as necessary for the various fares. Known as form T2. Fares were 60c/30c from 1/11/1980 to 31/10/1985. Form would have been printed about Nov. 1980 and used to after the next fare rise as stocks were exhausted and the revised fares marked in by hand. Two copies held. Form titled for the "Ballarat Tramways". No date on item, about March or April 1976 as appealing for space to store the tram and giving dimensions of the spaced needed for storage. Photo of tram accompanying item is of No. 12 with destination of Sebastopol. The April 1976 issue of Fares Please! gives the proposed move date as 8 and 9 May 1976. Scrap book compiled by Neville Gower from Nov. 1992 to June 1997. Primarily consists of newspaper clippings glued to the pages involving the Ballarat Tramway Museum. Also contained are other items of relevant interest, such as BTM brochures. Pages number in pencil by Warren Doubleday 2/2001. Where relevant some items contained in this book have been separately catalogued to enable easier reference. Some items were already in the collection and are thereby reference with their registered number. Also contains registered items 1659, 1654 and 1655. Book - 28 pages, colour covers with colour and black white photos titled "Ballarat's Heritage Tramway", Tells the story of the Ballarat Tramways and the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society. Written by W. F. Scott for the BTPS in 1993. Was an update of previous versions. Covers the history of the horse trams, the electrification by the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria, (ESCo) the takeover by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), closure in 1971, the formation of the BTPS and the operation of the tramway. Includes a list of the Museum tramcars at the time, details of the trams, many photos and a map of the system, depot layouts. Images of each page included in the image file. Copy of a letter and associated documents written to the Town Clerk, City of Ballaarat, dated Aug 1, 1985 seeking the support of the Council in attaining the body of the tramcar in Ballarat East. (Tram was actually obtained in December). Signed by the Secretary, Richard Gilbert. Mentions Frank Hanrahan as President for further information. Enclosed within letter is a two page note on BTPS Letter head outlining the history of the tramcar, its restoration, current condition, possible operation and value of the restoration. Attached as well is a folded drawing out an Adelaide double deck horse tram (Reference Reg. Item No. 706.1 ) and a photocopy of the builders of the first horse tram at the depot in 1887 (Reference Reg. Item No. 765 ).
