The 269 Form 1 students in 12 groups, 1A to 1M, took the school’s population to nearly 700. Extensions to the 3 year old building commenced during the year to help accommodate the expected rising numbers of students. A Legacy ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance. One of the annual "Anzac Commemoration Ceremony for Students" events, usually held just prior to ANZAC Day. The ceremony provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain an appreciation of the Anzac spirit, the significance of the Shrine and the meaning of Anzac Day. This is a close up photo of the son of soldier wearing his fathers medals, at the service in 1945 (see also 01193). It is the son of Lieut. G Ingram, a VC medal recipient.A record of a ceremony for school students at the Shrine.Black and white photo a boy wearing his fathers medals at an Anzac Commemoration Ceremony for students at the Shrine in 1945.Photo is stamped with purple copyright stamp of The Argus with identifying number, U-1673 in pencil. Also 'Anzac Eve 24th April 1945' and 'Ingram VC's son' in pencil. There are marks for cropping and dimensions for reprinting in a newsletter. A paper label says: ' 18. The son of Lieut. G.M. Ingram, Victoria Cross, wears his father's decoration awarded in France in 1918. 1/2 page' in blue pen. Was in an envelope with other photos and programmes from different School Student ceremonies. Photo was taken at the opening of the Puckapunyal Sportsman's Club which had been named after Legatee Donovan Joynt (see also item 01352). Lieutenant Colonel Donovan Joynt VC and Captain Mick Moon VC as 'the only surviving VC winners from World War 1 in Victoria.' The photo was part of an album of past presidents from 1965 to 1989. The folder included biographical details and obituaries, eulogies and death notices of prominent Legatees. Each entry is simply the surname, christian names and Ringwood District Birth Registration Number. Believed to have been entered by Marianne Thomson, Postmistress and local Registrar. The actual Register images and searchable pdf of the registers are found in VC records 50001, 50002 and 50003 This handwritten notebook is kept only because it appears to hae been written by Marianne Thomson. This captured enemy flag bears the signatures of 9RAR, 1969. It was collected by Private Lionel Leslie Corrie, Service no:1201398, who served in Vietnam 1968-1969. It is the flag of The People’s Army of Vietnam, the communist North Vietnamese Army (NVA) which infiltrated and then invaded South Vietnam between 1955 and 1975. It is believed that the members of 9RAR signed this at a reunion after the war had finished.Faded red and blue material flag with a yellow five pointed star in the center.
