John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the district working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. Edward Joseph Price took out Lot 1, Section 1 of the Village Settlement and became the first settler, moving his family up into a slab hut on his selection in 1896. Edward Joseph had two sons (Charles Joseph and Edward John) and a daughter (Kathleen Nathalie Caroline). Edward Joseph Price is holding his grandson Teddie, son of Edward John Price. The photograph is from the album of Ivy Child. The farm yard is probably her home - The farm of her parents Ted and Ethel Child. Ivy May Child (1910 – 1989) was the daughter of Arthur Edward (Ted) Child (1878 – 1964) and Ethel May Madden (1888 – 1970). Ted Child was the son of Matthew Francis Child (1839 – 1933) and Martha Jeeves (1857 – 1926). He was the grandson of one of the early pioneers Francis Child. Ivy grew up on the family property on Childs Road and took many photographs. Most of these are glued into her photo album. The album covered the years from c1927 – 1932. Ivy married Henry William Burgess (1906 – 1968) in 1944. The photographs remain in their original state in the album with individual copies made. The 'Copy Shop' in Walpole Street, Kew was located in the former Masonic Hall. It was a community operated facility. The 'shop' was designed for use by groups to run off leaflets or newsletters. It also served as a community space where people could drop in for a coffee and leave leaflets and information about events in the City of Kew. Two polaroid photographs, Thea Sartori in a red jumper is in both photographs. The woman in the pink cardigan is Aileen Cahill. In this image, store merchandise, including drapery, is hung out to dry after the flood. On 20th August,1909 the Laanecoorie Weir broke away and released 18.3 million cubic metres of water through the opening and causing severe damage to all towns downstream. At Newbridge, Petersen's bakery collapsed and Simpson's Store and Hotel flooded to the roof. The billiard table was later found in a tree five miles down the Loddon near Learmonth. The photograph of Sunbury Cemetery at sunset was entered into the Photograph Competition organised by the former Sunbury & District Heritage Association in March 2001.In 1862, land set aside in Cemetery Road for the Sunbury Cemetery was laid out in the following Christian denominational groups, Church of England, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran. Other non-denominational sites were set aside for paupers, heathens, Asians and pagans. Rebecca Jenkinson was the first person to be buried there in 1862. Over the years the size of the cemetery has expanded but it still occupies the original site off Shields Street in Sunbury and the names of the denominational divisions have changed over the years reflect a more inclusive outlook.Sunbury Cemetery replaced other smaller graveyards that were situated in some of the local church grounds and the earlier cemetery that was at The Gap township.A non-digital coloured photograph of a cemetery landscape with a number of old graves scattered across the open space. Samuel Todd married Margaret Jane Weir in Scotland in 1853. Their son Hugh Todd was born in Scotland in 1854, and the family is thought to have migrated to Victoria in the same year.
