Yields information about tram operations and the street views in the area of the City Loop, Sturt St.Set of 3 photographs taken on 10/8/1971 by Campbell Duncan of trams in the City Loop area of Sturt St. .1 - With 5 trams, headed by No. 40, in the loop, No 26 passes the loop. In the background are the various shops and stores on the south side of Sturt St, the including Patersons store. .2 - No. 26 climbing towards Lydiard St with the Coors Private Hotel, the Commonwealth Bank and the National Mutual building in the view. The tram has the destination of Gardens via Sturt St West, and a Briquettes roof advertisement. .3 - No. 27 - passes the assembled trams in the loop with the Dickins and Thomas buildings in the background. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Block of 200 tickets - yellow ink on off white paper, denomination 16c, lettered A565800 to A 565999, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. On rear in yellow ink is a SEC advertisement "ELECTRICITY makes life easier" with the SEC's little boy wrapped in a towel logo. Photo of SEC Ballarat No. 14 and possibly No. 42 (Briquette roof advertisement and features on the same special trams in Reg. item 2064) waiting in Lydiard St. North for the arrival of the ARHS special on Saturday 21/8/1971 to undertake the last tour of Ballarat Tramways, prior to the closure of the system. The first line closure (Victoria St.) took place the following day. Has Reid's Coffee Palace building in the background and other buildings on the east side of Lydiard St. North. Two other single truck cars in the photo as are the railway gates at the station. Negative No. N383 and black and white print made by a laser printer (stored in folder) of Ballarat No. 35 at the City Terminus in Sturt St, south side with the conductor (appears to be No. 17) standing by the front of the tram. Part of tram obscured by pole with SEC painted tram stop sign, enamel stop sign and end of section sign. Tram has an SEC roof advertisement, "Switch to Electric Cooking" and destination of Gardens via Sturt St. West. In the background is the Commonwealth Bank building, Prouds jewellers and the Odeon Theatre. Date of photo on folder - 30/9/1961. Original negative rescanned 24/5/2020 and image file updated. 35mm slide, square format mounted in a "Kodak " cardboard slide mount with Kodak logos and printing of No. 21 decorated as the Myer Christmas tram for 1968 offloading a large number of Children outside Myers Store, Sturt St. Has Town Hall in background. Note that this offloading was on the "wrong side", driver standing in front of traffic and another person standing by the door supervising. Tram has been decorated as a "show boat" with a paddle wheel, waves and the side windows covered to resemble port holes. Destination box has been covered with the words "To Myers". Tram has a roof advertisement "Myers for Everything under the tree". Theme: Santa's Showboat. George Foers (named on reverse) was Tarnagulla's policeman from 1900-1910.Monochrome photograph depicting four sisters from the Bool family of Tarnagulla, dressed up for the 1904 'Poster Fair', wearing labels relating to local stores and household products. In May 1904, a ‘poster fair’ was enjoyed by attendees at the the Victoria Hotel and Theatre, Tarnagulla. It included a range of stalls where ‘about 30 young ladies, who had charge of the various stalls, wore costumes with advertisements of local and metropolitan business firms’ to raise funds for the new Church of England parsonage.
