Erected 1974, dismantled 2000s. The Headquarters was operated from the family home at Ferris road at its inception, and in 1974 to the Barrie home at First Avenue Melton South. A storage office and Radio Tower was erected in the yard. A connection phone line was linked to the home of Wayne and Lynn Sullivan who lived at the rear in Kurrajong Cr later became LY remote. Wayne later became Communications Officer and the Headquarters moved location to the Melton Fire Station. The Mount Cotterill Group encompassed the Rural Fire Brigades of Melton, Rockbank, Sydenham, Toolern Vale, Truganina, and Werribee and later Diggers Rest. In the stage of transition from H.F.( High Frequency) to Very High Frequency some radio sets were non CFA Tankers when the group was established. This church was opened on 15th, September 1872, and was constructed over two years at a cost of 4500 pounds. The bluestone was sourced from Dean. Inside gives issue details - issued to Carol Lee of Sunshine High School, four section, issued 13/1/1956 for use to 11/5/1956, from Summerhill and Westmoreland Road Footscray to Essex St and Ballarat Road. Gives Carol's details. Ticket No. 2255. Laurie Young was the daughter of Beryl Mair (1916-1976) and Ernest Lance Young (1915-1999). The family lived at 5 York Street and later 11 York Street, Mont Albert. Laurie was born on 18 August 1947.A cream honour certificate with printing in red, brown and black awarded to Laurie Young in 1956 for attaining 97.3% in Grade IV. Possibly produced for display or commemoration purposes. There are 10 torches in sliver colour and one in gold gilt colour. Can be used for future projects where the torch symbol is required. A similar one has been used on the Centenary of ANZAC Street Art Mural on the back of Legacy House, Melbourne. The torch that has a gold gilt colour has two screws in the back for attachment. The badge of Legacy is the Torch and Wreath of Laurel. The Torch signifies the undying flame of service and sacrifice of those who gave their lives for their country.
