Newspaper clipping, titled "Want Provincial Trams Retained" re deputation of Provincial tramway employees waiting upon Government - notes trolley buses. Refers to Mr. H.H.Bell (M&MTB) and Mr. Kent Hughes as "Minister for Transport". VR to 62 gives K. Hughes as Minister for transport from 20/3/1935 to 1/4/1935. Was Minister for Railways 25/7/1934 to 20/3/1935 and 11/1947 to 10/1949. Reference to the Bell report dates cutting Sept./Oct. 1949. Record revised and image added 21/9/2013. Colour postcard with serrated edges of MMTB tram No. SW5 834 southbound in St Kilda Road with the Shine of Remberance in the background. Has as number of parked motor cars on either side of the road. Tram is showing destination of "East Malvern - Darling Road", route 3. Has ads on ends and side of tram, but out of focus. One is for "Dufor Engine Valves" Card by Nucolorvue. On rear of card printed in dark green ink is "MELBOURNE, VICTORIA/ St. Kilda Road with tram and Shine of Remembrance." Also wording for stamp location, copyright etc. On left hand edges is "ML 132", Set EW. Second copy added 21/07/2001. Framed Life Saving Certificate, 11-07-1901
This was given to William James Kennon. He was attempting to take assistance to a wrecked barque at Cape Patterson on April 25th, 1901. The ship was the barque "Artisan".Framed, printed Certificate of Meter, in black lettering with hand written name and particulars of recipient. A gilded matt is surrounded by an ornate wood and gesso frame which is in poor condition. On the back the paper has disintegrated. The Certificate is paper, mounted on cloth, mounted on stretcher. Remains of framer's label, also Phillip Island label stuck on back. Certificate is from Royal Humane Society of Australasia.(Hand written in copperplate, in black ink) ......11th Day of July 1901:...... Minute Book, Beech Forest Butter Factory Minute Book, 18/3/1902 - 6/2/1905, 18 March 1902
A meeting was held in Gardner's Hall, Beech Forest, for the purposes of considering the advisability of having butter factory established in the Beech Forest district. It was eventually agreed that a butter factory should be established, that provisional directors should be appointed, and upwards of 400 shares were taken up immediately. A second meeting was held on 20 May 1902 of about 40 dairymen. The meeting became a meeting of shareholders resolving to expedite the registration of the company and other preliminary matters. The election of directors then took place. Another meeting of shareholders held on the 15 July 1902 resolved to purchase a property and have the by-laws accepted.
