Pennants are used to advertise events or places. This pennant includes all the main areas of construction done by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria during their construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. The pennant advertises the highlights in the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme.A small triangular navy blue with gold printing fabric with a strip of woollen bias binding on the left side with a tab at the top and bottom for attaching to a rod to enable the pennant to hang. This chair, one of a set of three, was part of the original furnishings of the St Nicholas' Mission to Seamen's Church at 139 Nelson Place, Williamstown, Victoria. The Church was operated by the Mission to Seamen organisation. This chair, one of three, is significant historically for its origin in the St Nicholas Mission to Seamen's Church in Williamstown, established in 1857 to cater for the physical, social, and spiritual needs of seafarers. It originated in Bristol, England when a Seamen's Mission was formed in 1837. Chair wooden dark brown with curved back rest, one of a set of three. The 2 front legs are decoratively shaped (turned) while the back legs are plain and flat-sided. Almost square flat seat. Bottle, Sheldrick Pale Ale, Early 20th Century
Walter Sheldrick, a butcher and publican, established the Warrnambool New Brewery at the corner of Timor and Fairy Streets in 1868 as a company. The business was known as Sheldrick and Co. and after Walter Sheldrick’s death his son, Richard, managed the company until his death in 1893. In 1894 the business was sold to John McGee and Company until this firm sold to the Ballarat, Melbourne, Co-operative and Carlton and United Breweries in 1922. This Pale Ale bottle, therefore, was bottled before 1922.This bottle is of considerable significance as it is one of the last products of a prominent brewery in Warrnambool and is now nearly 100 years oldThis is a brown-coloured glass beer bottle with a long neck and no stopperOn oval shaped paper label ‘Sparkling Pale Ale, Sheldrick and Co. One of a series of postcards of photographs taken by socialite photographer Nicholas John Caire. N.J. Caire had a great love for the area and in the late 1800's took many photographs of Marysville and its surrounds.One of a series of postcards of photographs taken by socialite photographer Nicholas John Caire. N.J. Caire had a great love for the area in and surrounding Marysville and in the late 1800's took many photographs of Marysville and its surrounds. N.J. Caire was born in 1837 in Guernsey. He arrived in Adelaide about 1860 along with his parents who encouraged his early interest in photography. He opened a studio in Adelaide in 1867 after traveling extensively throughout the Gippsland taking photographs. After marrying in 1870 he moved to Talbot in Victoria until 1876 when he opened a studio in the Royal Arcade in Melbourne. After 1885 N.J. Caire gave up his city work and made his home in South Yarra and devoted the rest of his life to outdoor photography, specializing in the bush, the gullies and the mountains of south-eastern Victoria. This probably was used with single telephone cable earth return in WW1.This is a circular metal cable drum. The centre 'axle' is made a cylindrical piece of timber. It in turn, has a square metal bearing. This square metal bearing has a square hole in the centre 15 x 15 mm. This is held in place with 4 slotted screws. There is a small length of rubber covered cable exiting from one side of the drum. It is a 5 core cable. In the wooden drum is a metal sleeve. It can be slid around to reveal a metal screw terminal.On the side that has the cable exit can be seen, "HEARL & HEATON & SONS LTD 11 1918" ww1, cable drum -

The first signature at the top of the front cover is "Tom Dunphy 6th Batt". This was his invitation he had signed by attendee's. He was very involved in the 6th Batt Association in Bendigo. Refer Cat No 1093 for items re Tom. Program folding card, front cover has two flags at top with a Rising Sun image under followed by the heading "Banquet", under is the date, place, then an image of a Soldier and Sailor. Inside has first page a list of "Toasts" and by whom, 3rd page is the extensive menu and last on rear the committee names of the Bendigo Branch. The front cover has hand written names in pencil of those attending, inside has 4 names and rear is covered in names. This booklet was given to subscribers to the Warrnambool Standard newspaper as an almanac for the year 1888. These Standard Almanacs were produced from 1875 to 1930. They contain much local information on Warrnambool and district about the businesses, government officials, harbour management, churches, schools, banks, societies and organizations etc. The Warrnambool Standard newspaper was established in 1872 and continues to this day.This booklet is of high significance as it contains valuable information on Warrnambool and district for the year 1888. It is a very important research tool for those studying and writing the history of Warrnambool. This copy has the names, ‘Murdoch Macdonald’, ‘D. Drynoch’ and ‘John Hyland’. Nothing is known about the first two people except that Murdoch Macdonald was the donor of the booklet but John Hyland was a well-known 19th century identity in Warrnambool – a policeman, a Council rate collector and an auctioneer. This is soft cover booklet of 71 pages plus several pages of a gardener’s almanac and advertisements. The original cover is missing and has been replaced by a plain piece of cream cardboard which is attached with a metal pin. The front and back pages are partly torn away and some pages of advertisements may be missing. There is a typed note on the inside front cover regarding the first Standard Almanac of 1875. The name of ‘Murdoch Macdonald’ is written in black ink in several places. ‘Murdoch Macdonald’ ‘John Hyland’ ‘D.
