The bag belonged to Dorothy's mother who resided in Canterbury Road, Vermont, Unit 1, next to Steven Reserve for 20 years until she died. Information from Dorothy Meagher re bead bag:-Dorothy Mavis Don (owner of bag) was born in Cowangie, S.A. in Mallee country in 1907. She married Douglas William Stewart on 22-1-1927 in the Presbyterian Church in Cowangie. The donor purchased this suit from a small town in the Adelaide Hill, to wear at a classic Car Rally and to go with his 1935 Buick. It was worn at the Adelaide, Noosa, Bribie Island, Tasmania and Victoria Classic Car Rallies.This outfit won The Best Dressed Male at the RACV Great Australian Rally 1999. The owner has since moved into a retirement village and sold his Buick.Navy blue pin stripe double breasted three piece suit. Trousers lined. Waistband has six buttons for braces. Four buttonhole fly front. Leg is 30cm wide with a turn up cuff 4cm. Matching waistcoat is lined and has 6 buttons. Coat fully lined, also has six buttons and a flower button hole. A wedding bodice made for Mary Jane Schroder for her marriage to Ralph Pardy Rudd on 24th Nov 1886 in Ceylon1886 satin bodice, boned and paneled to fit 24 ins waist. Closed at front with 18 pearl buttons. Long sleeves, beaded and embroidered cuffs also lace trimmed. Pocket on left side for watch. Peplum at back to sit on bustle of skirt. Fan was made for Mary Jane Schroder for her marriage to Ralph Pardy Rudd on 24th Nov 1886 in Ceylon. Later carried by three family members at weddings during 1941 by Mrs Kathleen Hubbert then Mrs Mary Barry in 1947 and finally by Sharlene Barry, now Mrs Ron Draeger.1886 bamboo fan mounted with white feathers. Spray of artificial flowers and cream satin ribbon tied in bows and wound round the bamboo handle. Back of fan has circle of boa to conceal joins of white feathers.
