Albert Thomas Holden was born in 1866 at Geelong, died in 1935 and is buried in Boroondara cemetery. From 1883-84 he taught in Kyneton and became a Methodist lay preacher. He graduated with a B.A. from Ormond College in 1888. He entered the Methodist ministry and worked in Burwood and at the Omeo Home Mission. During 1892 he toured Europe and the Middle East with Rev Bickford. In 1898 Holden was an army chaplain and served South Africa. He became Methodist Chaplain General in 1913. In 1904 Holden became Secretary of Methodist Home Missions and traveled throughout Australia. Holden was General Superintendent of the Methodist Church of Australasia from 1929 - 1932 and then President- General. Holden became a Freemason in 1898. Rev. Daniel James Draper (1810 - 1866). Born Wickham, Hampshire 28 August 1810. In 1830 joined the Methodist Society at Fareham and became a local preacher. Nominated in March 1834 as a candidate for the Wesleyan Methodist ministry. Appointed preacher on probation to the Charteris circuit. Married Sarah Webb in September 1835, ordained 7 October 1835, sailed for Australia on 13 October 1835. Served at Parramatta, where his wife died on 16 February 1838. Married Elizabeth Shelley (1808 - 1866) daughter of William Shelley, formerly a missionary in Tonga and Tahiti in July 1939. Served in N.S.W., Victoria and South Australia. Elected President of the 1859 Conference. Granted leave in 1865 to return to England as the Australian representative to the British Conference. He was returning to Australia on the SS London in January 1866 when he and his wife, along with 244 others, perished when their ship sank during a fierce storm in the Bay of Biscay.B & W etching: two head and shoulder portraits of Rev. Arthur Henry Miers played for cricket, football and baseball teams in Kew for a number of decades in the first half of the twentieth century. He was born on 22 November 1901, the son of Rodolph Theophilus Miers (1874-1951) and Margaret Frances (Margaretta) Fry (1875-1958). He had two brothers, Rodolph Cecil Miers (1904-80) and Charles Wilfred Miers (1906-88), and a sister Marjorie Elizabeth Miers (1911-84). Arthur Miers died in Kew on 25 January 1966, and after his body was cremated, his body was interred in the Mausoleum of Boroondara General (Kew) Cemetery.Group portrait of a cricket club team in Sydney, standing in front of or sitting on the steps of a monument. In 1870 the Earl de Grey was Grand Master of England, but his rule was short lived. After being converted to Roman Catholicism, he felt it was essential that he resign from Freemasonry as his church at the time was opposed to Freemasonry. Albert Edward Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, readily accepted nomination as Grand Master of England and continued in office until his Accession in 1901.This portrait the Prince of Wales was painted by Thomas Flintoff. It is held within a very elaborate gilded frame which comes apart in 3 sections and is one of only two known types existing.Portrait oil painting of Prince Albert on canvas stretched over stretcher/strainer.
