This card is one of four in our Collection. The original set of cards was a series of 33 cards published by the Victorian Government to give recipes and instructions for basic meals. Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. The images held within the National Vietnam Veterans Museum make up the Gibbons Collection. A black and white photograph of 7 RAR Fire Support Base, housing the Battalions direct artillery support, 106 Battery. The Fire support Base also contained the Battalions Mortar Platoon, while the guns and mortars were "in the open", the Battalion elements were in the "scrub. The child allowance has been discontinued. Photographed and published by Geo Rose. Has many lady passengers on the top deck of the tramcar. Tram has the destination of "Boatsheds". Possibly around 1900. A history of the 8/7 Battalion of the Royal Victoria regiment and its predecessors 1858-2008. The 8/7 Battalion traces its origins back to the Ballarat Volunteer Rifle Regiment and the Bendigo Rifle Regiment both of which formed in 1858. This book traces the history of the Ballarat infantry and the units in major cities and towns that form its predecessors. A small part of this history includes the Bacchus Marsh Rifle Association and the Prince of Wales Victorian Volunteers Light Horse troop based in Bacchus Marsh in the later part of the nineteenth century. References to Bacchus Marsh in this book can be found on pages 9 and 147-148.
