The original swing bridge was built across the Deep Creek in 1854 to allow the Daniel family to visit the Dickens sisters. It was renewed in later years and was used by Bulla children until the school closed in 1995.A coloured photograph of the swing bridge which straddles the Deep Creek at Bulla. The photograph shows the full length of the wooden and wire bridge from bank to bank. 14th December 1927. The funeral of Cr. F.T. Le Page, leaving Cheltenham Church of Christ, Chesterville Road, for the old Cheltenham Cemetary. The undertakers were W.D. Rose & Son. Standing alongside the hearse is Mr Wally Rose. In front him is Mr Clarrie Judd, father of Mrs Clarice Whitehead. At the front of the procession are two Church of Christ Ministers. On the right is Mr Daniel Wakefield, who was minister at the time. On the left is Mr Mudge who was the previous minister. The man wearing collars are members of the Star of Moorabbin Order, of the Sons of Temperance Friendly Society. Others are elders from the church. Some of the names are: Mr George Brough, Mr Horace Brough, George Roberts, Tom Tilley, and Frank Martin. The house in the photograph was the home of Mr and Mrs Fred. Judd. The picket fence was at the front of the Church and the Cypress hedge on the right, was the home of Mr Chas. Fairbank, now the Church Manse grounds.Frank T Le Page arrived in Cheltenham, ( Two Acre Village) aged 3 with his father Nicholas Le Page , a tailor from Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Nicholas purchased one of Holloway's two-acre lots and established a market garden. Frank T Le Page worked on his father's market garden from age 14, then worked as a coachman and met Tommy Bent whilst employed at Brighton Grammar School. He bought land adjacent to his father's , built Daphne Cottage in 1876 and later established the Cheltenham Cream and Butter Factory. Frank T. Le Page was member of many community groups and was a Moorabbin Shire Councillor for 25 years serving a term as President. 'The Le Pages became one of the best known Moorabbin market gardening families, with a tradition of service to communal and civic affairs that is unmatched.' This album contains a collection of family photos, greeting cards and hand drawn floral emblems. Among the photographs are two which have details on them: a young girl named Margaret Clarke aged 8 1870 and another of Charles Alexander Clarke. The photographers are from many places including Britain, Melbourne, Portland and a number by Daniel Clarke of Warrnambool. Daniel Clarke was one of Warrnambool’s more important photographers, operating a business for thirty years in the town. He also worked as an artist and taught art in local schools. He painted a number of versions of Tower Hill. He died in 1918 at the age of 91.This album shows a collection of photographs and cards which were important to families in the later part of the 19th century. It has artistic and historical significance, with the photographs in particular depicting many different styles of clothing and household details of the time. Brown leather with a figured pattern and gold detail. Bent metal clasp Back cover in cross-hatched pattern. Spine has 5 horizontal lines. Edges of pages are edged in gold. Pale grey water wave patterned paper inside front and back covers. Pages inside are varied with some having coloured floral embellishments while others have pockets to hold from 1 to 4 photographs or card. Kelly, Daniel Kelly, Mrs Heywood (formerly Kelly), Mrs Powell, Mr and Mrs Robert Allan, Mr and Mrs Fitzsimons.Copy of a black and white photograph of the Brown Hill Methodist Church, later the Brown Hill Uniting Church. A weatherboard church was built c1857 at a cost of 400 pounds. Itg also served as a school house. The brick church was built in 1969 at the cost of 714 pounds. According to the donor, the photo was taken before the driveway was constructed. The house was later extended at the rear and was re-roofed. The donor's grandparents Daniel Patrick Liddy and Beatrice Bridget Tyner (known as 'Beat') were married in at her parents' home in Glencoe, South Australia on 13 December 1908. They lived in the Carlton / North Melbourne area before moving to Surrey Hills. Electoral rolls list them at 92 Curtain Street, North Carlton in 1913. According to the donor, they rented several properties before purchasing 45 Wandsworth Road. They are listed at Albert Crescent in 1914 and 1919, but also lived in Zetland Road. They purchased 45 Wandsworth Road in c1923 and are listed in the electoral rolls there in 1924. The donor's mother Ellen Dorothy Liddy (known as Eileen) was born in 1909; her brother Daniel John Liddy was born in 1911, both in Carlton. Daniel Patrick Liddy died in 1955; his wife Beatrice died in 1959. They are buried in Box Hill Cemetery (RC183-0045). 45 Wandsworth Road was their home for over 30 years.This image is material evidence of a property that has been demolished.A black and white photo taken from the street looking up a path or narrow driveway. On the LHS is part of a weatherboard house, Edwardian in style. On the RHS is the boundary fence against which is a garden border separated from the driveway by a section of grass. In the background is a glasshouse.Rear along top edge in blue biro: "Aunty Eileens house / before she was married" - according to the donor, this is his cousin's writing. Charles French was a shoe shop in Portland located on Percy Street. Advertised in the Portland Guardian in April 1916. This Melbourne firm of shoe manufacturers was founded in 1854 by Daniel Bedggood. On arrival from England he set up a business in Richmond, Victoria to make working boots. He later began importing English footwear. When branches were opened throughout Australia and business increased, the partnership, which included his three sons, was extended. The company was run by Bedggood's son John from the 1870s until 1911, then by John's son Daniel and later Horace Bedggood, as chairman of directors of Bedggood and Co. John Raymond (Ray) Blight enlisted on 19 July 1915. He was an electrical engineer, having studied at the Ballarat School of Mines. On 23 June 1916 Ray Blight disembarked at Marseilles. 3 February 1917 he was hospitalised with scabies. Ray Blight's next of kin was his mother, Mary Jane Blight of 116 Lyons Street South, Ballarat. James Leslie Sim enlisted on 13 July 1915, at which time he was an accountant. His next of kin was his father, Charles Robert Sim of Drummond Street North, Ballarat. On 23 June 1916 James Sim disembarked at Marseilles. A year later he received leave to the United Kingdom returning to France 2 weeks later. He received leave to Paris from 18 march 1918 to 4 April 1918. Sim was wounded on 1 June 1918.Two World War One soldiers in military uniform pose for a photograph. The two men are Lance Corporal Ray Blight and Lance Corporal Sim (both of Ballarat). On the back is a personal letter to Ballarat School of Mines Lecturer Daniel Walker. The pin holes in the postcard suggest it was displayed at the Ballarat School of Mines. .1) Verso: " France 25/8/16.
