This Form was part of the largest intake to date as Ringwood Technical School entered its fourth year at the Heathmont Road campus. The 269 Form 1 students in 12 groups, 1A to 1M, took the school’s population to nearly 700. Main Street Greensborough 1963. The Scout Trading Post was sited just downhill from the Ashril Picture Theatre (in 2018 just downhill from the main Greensborough Plaza entrance (ie: about 55 Main Street). It's purpose was to raise funds for the local scout troupe that had their main hall at what, in 2018, would be 49 Hailes Street. The Trading Post only functioned for 12 months or so. Before that it was a home to the Mountford family and before them, the Slater family. Sir Dallas Brooks, was Victoria's' longest serving Governor and Grand Master. Born in Cambridge England in 1896, his interest in becoming a Freemason was expressed whilst in England however he chose to wait until he became Governor of Victoria to be initiated. Sir Dallas Brooks held the position of Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of Victoria from 1951 to 1963. He was a popular Grand Master and Governor and although he was unable to commit as much time as he would have like to Freemasonry, he participated where possible.This portrait was painted by Joshua Smith and the only painting created by this artist.Framed oil painting on canvas with stretcher/strainer. Next door is the original Bush Nursing centre, then Dalgety's, the Bakery, the Milkbar and on the corner is the Bank of New South Wales building, Elder's, Green's drapery shop and the Lake Bolac Memorial Hall. On the traffic island in front of the Hall is the War Memorial and across the Woorndoo road is the Hotel (with the maroon roof) with stables behind.
