Framed portrait of John Moule who was President of the Vision Australia Foundation, from 1992-1999. It is part of a series of paintings commissioned by the VAF Board to commemorate the work of past presidents of the organisation. Mr Moule is standing with his arm on a dresser, and holds a pair of glasses. He is dressed in a navy blue suit, with a blue kercheif in his breast pocket,, a white collared shirt and a blue, white and black striped tie. On his lapel is a small gold badge. The plaque at the base of the painting reads 'Mr John A. 1. This is a black short jacket with maroon collars. It has maroon sleeve ends. On each collar is a gold corps badge = RAMC. On the shoulders are decorative epaulettes. On them are badges of rank for a LT.COL. The word "Australia" - a gold button with Rising Sun motif. It has black polyester lining. 2. Vest. Same maroon colour. Black nylon back. 1. Red woollen jacket with white facings and white cuffs. On the collars are a 38Bn NVR badge. On epaulettes are - Brass letter "R". Brass Major's badge, small brass button - motif is Australian Military Forces. The jacket is lined with red cotton. 2. Red woollen vest, cotton backing. Two small pockets, Four small brass buttons - motif is Australian Military Forces - vest lined with white cotton. 3. Black trousers, wool with a red wool stripe on outside seam (4cm wide). This uniform was issued to “Gerald John Clancy" VX105938. Enlisted 23.7.1942. Discharged 15 April 1946, Rank Cpl in 29/46 Aust. Inf. Bn.1. Jacket. black wool. Four pockets held shut with silver buttons. Front held shut with four silver buttons. Each collar has a silver number badge - 1779. Each arm has a cloth badge marked "Corps of Commissionaires". Each arm also has a 75mm round badge with a 7 pointed star. It is surmounted with a crown. Inside the 'star' is a blue ring with the words "Service - Loyalty - Integrity". Inside the blue ring is a red dot. On that dot are symbols - Eagle, Anchor and a Rifle. Ob the left forearm is a 25 mm cloth badge with a silver letter "R". 2. Belt, wool, black. Silver metal buckle. 3. Trousers, woollen, black. 4. Tie, woollen, black. Red liner, fixed loop for neck. 5. Belt - black leather with silver buckle. Textile - Rechabite Ceremonial Badges
The Rechabite movement began in Salford England. In 1861 the first Independent order of Rechabites Friendly Society, Salford Unity, was opened in Bendigo to be called “Star of Bendigo” Tent. It was registered as Number 5 making it one of the first in Victoria. They worked with the Total Abstinence Society to organize lectures and social events designed to prove that entertainment and fun could be had without alcohol. They met in the new Temperance Hall in View Street.Independent Order of Rechabites, Salford Unity. Male ceremonial badges. A Stylized brass button with pin back, decorated with stamped design of maple leaf and palm fronds, cream satin ribbon with crest of Independent Order of Rechabites.
