The Wodonga Historical Society Haeusler Collection provides invaluable insight into life in late nineteenth and early twentieth century north east Victoria. The collection comprises manuscripts, personal artefacts used by the Haeusler family on their farm in Wodonga, and a set of glass negatives which offer a unique visual snapshot of the domestic and social lives of the Haeusler family and local Wodonga community. The Haeusler family migrated from Prussia (Germany) to South Australia in the 1840s and 1850s, before purchasing 100 acres of Crown Land made available under the Victorian Lands Act 1862 (also known as ‘Duffy’s Land Act’) in 1866 in what is now Wodonga West. The Haeusler family were one of several German families to migrate from South Australia to Wodonga in the 1860s. This digital image was produced from one of the glass negatives that form part of the collection, probably taken by Louis Haeusler (b.1887) with the photographic equipment in the Wodonga Historical Society Haeusler Collection.This item is unique and has well documented provenance and a known owner. It forms part of a significant and representative historical collection which reflects the local history of Wodonga. Parker Family - Samuel Skelton Parker, Jack Parker’s father, migrated to Australia from Ballymena, Country Antrim, Ireland in 1884. He married Bridget Cusack from County Clare in 1883. They had children William, James, Jack, Samuel and Rachel. After working on a station in northern NSW, they moved to Barnawartha and set up a butchery and later a bakery. In 1890 the family moved to Wodonga, buying a property in West Wodonga, which he called “Park Hall” after his home in Ireland. The property is now the location of the Wodonga Golf Club in Parkers Road, West Wodonga.This item is unique and has well documented provenance and a known owner. Louis Alfred Haeusler was the 6h child of Johann Heinrich Ferdinand Haeusler and Ernestina Wilhelmine nee Rogasch. He married Ilma Margaret Ernestine Tasker in the Presbyterian Church in Tallangatta on 19th February 1919. Ilma was born in Tallangatta, Victoria in 1900 to Michael John Tasker and Louisa Ida nee Schultz. Ilma died in childbirth in 1928 giving birth to a stillborn child. She was survived by her husband, Louis Alfred Haeusler and one surviving son, John Alfred Lyell who was born in 1922.This item is unique and has well documented provenance and a known owner. Sha Sarwari is a multidisciplinary artist who works in sculpture, installation, photography, and performance. A Moth to a Flame is a commentary on the often-tragic dilemma that refugees encounter when escaping their country of origin to seek asylum. This piece comes from a series of works, also titled A Moth to a Flame, where this metaphor is used to show how the hopefulness of a new life can result in a dangerous, sometimes fatal illusion. In this work, Sawari aims to give a voice to the refugee experience, to reconcile cultural identity, new belonging and resilience in the face of trauma.

Various images taken of library processes and staff, for the NILS Annual Report. These include: - the Circulation area, where items were returned via post and stacked on trolleys. Cassette books were checked for completeness (as a book could require multiple cassette containers or having missing cassettes) and if they had been rewound, before returning. The computer system either re-circulated the book out to another borrower or put to storage in the Hanging Carousel, which was 1 storey high and housed 1000's of books. Books being sent out again were issued a card with the address label printed on it, and were required to be placed in the address rack on the book, before being shipped out via post. - Computer Access Centre was located in the Browsing Library and consisted of two computers, one with a larger screen for increased font size and a trackball mouse designed for people with limited mobility. - Duplication where blank cassettes are loaded into 'slaves' and a master recording duplicated on to multiple tapes - Browsing Library where a small selection of Braille, audio and large print books are kept and can be viewed. - Braille and Large Print Production, where text is scanned then transformed into the desired format, before proofing and dispatch to the client. - Audio Production studios where text is recorded by single or multiple narrators, and produced. 298 images of NILS staff, clients and volunteersnational information library service, john turner, carl sayo, tim mitchell, marnie rose-smith, ted johnson, craig carey, jamie kelly, alan egerton, alan bates, bernadette jolley, debbie cooke, kelly thong, robert de graauw, karl hughes, justin bates, jean watson

This group of items is retained as a record of a typical project of the Ringwood Amateur Photography using multi-media facilities available in 1965 - ie slides and slide projector and an audio tape reocrding to accompany the slideshow. Project by the RIngwood Amateur Photography Club in 1965 - a slideshow entitled "Our City of Many Faces" cvoering Melbourne, the Dandenongs, Bayside beach etc. Originally donated as a tin box of Slides, and audio narration on reel of tape, and a handwritten booklet with the text and notation of slide number for each text comment. The slides were then scanned at RDHS Archives (2024), the audio tape was converted to a digital file by Aidem Media, and the slides and audio file combined into a digital movie by Ken Briscoe and Rob Carter (RDHS) which was subsequently shown to a meeting of RDHS. The speaker on the audio tape is not identified After conversion and cataloguing, the physical slides, audio tape and tin were disposed of. Only the handwritten script booklet is retained (along with the digital files). The final movie is not loaded to Victorian Collections (256Mb) but is available from the RDHS Archives. Attached is a pdf copy of the script booklet, the audio tape digital copy, a pdf table index to images, and images of the tin and each of the slides.
