Photo of SEC tram no. 31 in Main St, Ballarat East, with destination of "Gardens via Drummond St." Tram has been fitted with dash canopy lighting, but not the large white strip under the lighting. Has small triangles on the panels. Also has a small ad for White Horse whisky. Shows buildings on either side of Main St. and the Caltex service station in the background on Main Road and Bridge St. Photo taken 23-6-1962. Black & White Photograph of one of the ESCo Toastracks being assembled in the Exhibition Buildings in Grenville St., north of the Alfred Hall in 1905. The other open Toastrack or Summer tramcar is behind this tram, with other California Combination cars on the sides. The trams have yet to be fitted with wheels or equipment, including headlights. Note the front dash panel has been painted, but no headlight opening or cut out. The print for this photograph made from a copy negative of page 454 of the Australasian, August 19, 1905 in 1993. Print includes caption (all in caps) "Summer Traffic Car: to be used in trips to and from the Gardens. It is without sides, and has reversible backs. Ballarat Electric Tram Service". See Reg. Set of 12 A3 proofs, colour, for comment in a large envelope with notes on the outside written by Dave Macartney of the almost final versions of the 12 panels that were installed in Shelters through a Public Records Office of Victoria grant during March 2020. Designed by Peter Lambert Design. 1 - Depots backed by Victoria St 2 - Tram Types - backed by the Mt Pleasant Line 3 - Beginnings backed by the Lydiard St Line 4. - Conductors backed by the Sebastopol line 5 - Carlton St backed by Trams in the City 6 - The Gardens backed by The Gardens lines. The final version for the two at St Aidans drive were changed following Council consultation into a different sized panel but with the same content. Image files are those from Peter Lambert that went to the panel makers. Second leaf of letter is displayed below, next to envelope used to send letter. Letter mostly discusses Anderson's tennis game and refers to current Davis Cup team. The Anderson's were close friends of Tilden who supported him during a 10 month period of incarceration in 1949. Kew Tapestry The eight panels depict the history of Kew. This was a 1988 Australian Bi-Centennial Project carried out under the auspices of City of Kew Council and the Kew Historical Society Incorporated. Nearly 600 citizens including many children participated in the production by adding a few or more stitches. A book records their names and the panels upon which they worked. Artist: Joy Stewart Co-ordinator: Dorothy BenyeiSydney Joy (Joy) Stewart was born in Melbourne 1925. She studied at Swinburne Technical College Art School from 1941-1945, then the National Gallery Art School 1946-1948. Her career included employment positions as a display artist, designer/painter, gallery assistant, and art teacher. Joy relocated to Cairns in 1981. Solo exhibitions in Melbourne and Cairns, including 'Done By Me' at Cairns Regional Gallery in 1999. Group exhibitions at Cairns Regional Gallery, 'The Fish John West Regrets, 1993' and 'Facets of Life' 1994. Joy Stewart died in Cairns in 2018.7. Churches.
