Certificate - Australian Natives Association Certificate, c. 1939
The Australian Natives Association (ANA) was founded in Melbourne in 1871. Its membership was restricted to white men born in Australia and its aim was to benefit them.Certificate issued by the Australian Natives Association. Portland Branch's ex President's certificate. Issue to Mr W.A. Mills. Occupied the position from 16 May 1938 to 15 May 1939. Signed by the President and the Secretary (illegible, faded). The certificate has the Australian emblem at the top under which is an orange banner with the words ' Australian Natives Association' across. Under this is a woman in classical style dress holding an Australian flag in her right hand and a document in her left which reads, 'Constitution of the Australian Commonwealth'. A circular frame states the owner of the certificate and why it was issued. On the other side of the circle is a man. He wears leather riding boots, cream trousers and a blue shirt. He is holding something in his left hand. Under is a central star in which is an image of Australia. Either side is a picture of the sea with an Aboriginal man standing at the shore by some boats. Uniform re Bertram Charles (Bluey) Addington. Initially enlisted No S5269 on 20.4.1942, discharged as a Pte on 13.5.1943 in 4th Bn Volunteer Defence Corps. Re enlisted No 140422 on 25.5.1943 in the RAAF, discharged 5.5.1948 with the rank of Cpl in Laverton Transit Departure and Reception. At some point enlisted in the Army No 41843 and served Vietnam in Aust Force Provost Corp from 19.4.1967 - 19.4.1968, Aust Army Training Team Vietnam 4.8.1970 - 14.10.1971. Awarded U.S Army commendation for Service, Vietnam Armed Forces Honor medal 2nd class. Service ribbons on jacket. 1. British Empire medal. 2. British War medal 1939 - 45 3. Aust Service medal 4. Uniform (item) - RAAF Mess Dress Uniform, RAAF Mess Dress Uniform Belonging To W.A.Eacott
This RAAF dress uniform and other associated article of clothing was owned by Walter Alexander Scott. Joined RAF December 1940 to be trained as a pilot, he got his wings December 1941, became a night fighter pilot after OTU and posted to 219 Squadron. Was posted to 603 Squadron December 1942 flying Beaufighters on coastal command convoy escorts, desert patrols, supporting Sicilian and Italian invasions (all from the N.African desert, then on Greek Island " Armed Rovers" until 10 November 1943, just at the end of ops, when he was shot down in the Aegean Sea and became a POW the next day 11 November 1943. Transferred to Germany he was in Stalag IVB for 3 months, before exchanging ID with an Irish soldier ,in order to get out of the main camp into a working sub-camp in order to escape. Post war Walter returned to Australia, he became "Citizen of the Year" in Werribee 1992 for his service to the community. In 1993 he was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for services to youth and to the retired.CGCF ( Commonwealth Government Clothing Factory) -

Textile - ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS COLLECTION: CARL MUELLER SASH
Green silk sash, Ancient Order of Foresters. Court King of the Forest 3770. Sadh belonged to Mr. Carl Mueller. Sash has embroidered all seeing eye, a deer's head, a shield divided into four, the top left corner has shaking hands, the top right has three deer, one above the other, the bottom left has a sheep?, and a horn separated by a red band, and the bottom right has a quiver, an arrow and a horn. In the centre are three arrows in front of a horn. On each side is a man dressed in yellow boots, white trousers,slightly different green jackets, and green hats with white feathers. One man has a bow and arrow and the other has a club and a dog is behind him. Underneath are four women circling the top part of a sphere above the words 'Unity Benevolence and Concord. Underneath is Ancient Order of Foresters, then there is some yellow and brown filigree above Court King fo the Forest. 3770. POST WWII: As a member of the British Armed Forces he applied to stay in Australia – the National Archives holds his application form. MARRIAGE: He married Isabel Noel Fulton in 1949, in Vic. AUST. MIL. FORCES: He joined the Aust. Army and served from 1953 to 1977. His number then was 35175 in the Royal Aust. Engineers. His last rank was Sergeant. Returned Service League: He spent some time as a member of the Castlemaine Sub Branch. DEATH: He died 28 JUN 2005. His remains are in the Garden of Remembrance, Springvale, VIC.
