Clothing. Navy blue velvet, on a brass frame, with a 34 cm long brass chain. A ''push-button'' 1.2 cm diameter, fastens the bag. A decorative, oval brass loop is attached to the centre of the frame. The velvet fabric is tightly gathered onto the frame. One side panel of the bag is exquisitely embroidered in a ''corded'' floral design, in pink, blue and greens. The bag is lined with a smokey blue watermark silk, with a flat pocket on one side. Clothing. Owners initials prominent on outside. Rectangular in shape, fine grained black leather. The leather forms an external shape, white inside a smaller watermark, black silk pouch has a silver frame and clasp to hold the required items. This is lined with a dark cream watermark silk, and has an outer section with side pocket, containing a mirror, and a smaller inner section divided into purse-like compartments. Each swection has a silver frame and clasp. A small piece of light card -red on one side, and possibly glued as a label on the otherside is the same shape as the handbag, and has printed in capital letters ''NOTE THE POINTS''. This may or may not relate to the bag. The outer leather section is slightly tapered-wider at the bottom, forming slight peaks. The top reflects these peaks, with a 3 cm wide band of leather, shaped wider at the top. 23 cm long at top, 21 cm long at lower edge. Silver metal, upper-case lettering:M-A-B, indicate the owners initials. .7 cm high, 7cm long. Two 1 cm wide, 28 cm long handles complete this stylish bag. Object. Wooden frame and handle, metal mechanism and spokes, line fabric covering. Wooden handle is 4 cms in diameter and 9 cm long. An eyelet through the handle may once have a carrying loop. The handle has a polished wood finish, and is decorated with painted leaves. The top peak of the umbrella is also polished wood, 3.5 cm long, 2 cm in diameter. Object. Rectangular in shape, 15 cms x 10.5 cms mirror frame, with a 17 cms handle. The mirror has a bevelled edge, and is backed with a deep cream linen fabric embroidered in a fine silk floral-spray petit pomt embroidery. The frame is marked 24 ct. GPL (24ct gold plate). Very sturdy brown leather fully lined with red velvet. Base has a velvet lined insert to hold the hat in position. A 2.5cm wide braid, attached at each side, fastens with a silvery, metal clip, to secure the hat in position. A velvet covered frame sits at the top of the hat box, this has an oval shaped hole over the centre of the hat. A very sturdy, heavy lid has a strap across the lid - part of which is now missing-this strap would have fastened and locked into the circular brass locking fastener on the hat box. Two metal circular studs and stitching, hold the handle in place on the lid. A label and stamp have been attached to the lid, but are now badly worn, and a third Victorian Railways stamp can be identified.A card inside the hat box reads box 564 Cowling Collection hat box/hat. Two satin and organza, five patelled flowers decorate the horse shoe - one on either side of the lower edges. Two silk ribbon leaves are decorative on each side of the face of the horse shoe.
