Used by Ken Cathie in his mechanics workshop.Heavy metal belt-joiner tool painted green with hinged pieces. Inside a brass comb-like piece is attached with three screws. A row of staples is inserted into the comb and a hook slides through to lock in place when repairing a belt. In the view are Crockers and the Art Gallery Association buildings. The later became the SEC Ballarat city offices. Image possibly taken c1912 as the trams appear to have driver's windows. Car featured in photo is No. 17. Note on the position of the rear lifeguard area of the tram is the word "Summerscales".
