Print Council of Australia Members' Print Commission, 1973Image of a carnival enclosure - one continuous tent wall with an open back. No roof. Front entrance is indicated by a partition to one side of the tent, edged in brown, opening in an inverted 'v'. Inside the tent is a swing with a seat and chains aloft in swinging motion. A black rope lies on the ground. An early advertising brochure for prospective homeowners to choose the style of home they would like built. House and land packages were available in the areas of Bundoora surrounding the Loyola and Parade College sites, which were monasteries in the 1960s. The aerial photographs show the open nature of the landscape from Bundoora across to Greensborough and Watsonia in the 1960s. Book of black and white photographs bound in brown card cover. Contains 14 photos of houses and shops and 14 aerial photos of Bundoora including the Loyola and Parade College areas. This photograph of the former site of Kelly Garden Supplies was taken in 2013 to show changes over 40 years, based on Ron Reynold’s sketches in the 1973 publication “Greensborough and Greenhills” published by Cypress Books. The site is now part of the Civic roundabout at the top of the Greensborough By-pass. Civic Drive was associated with the building of Diamond Valley Council Offices opened by Governor Rohan Delacombe on 26/2/1972. Previously it was known as Kelly's Track which wound its way around to a house that overlooked the aqueduct bridge. Kelly's Sandpit (quarry) was the local go to place to obtain road, driveway fill and red sand for local construction. The Society of Jesus (Jesuits) opened the seminary in 1934. These photographs were part of the advertising for the opening ceremony. The Jesuit Order had a presence on the site from 1934 to 1974 where a house of formation and studies for the Society of Jesus was located (the current Old Loyola building purchased by the College in 2002). Whaler's Bluff lighthouse in Portland was originally located on Battery Point. It was erected there in 1859. In 1889 it was relocated, stone by stone to Whaler's Bluff. The reasoning given was that the space on what is now known as Battery Point was needed for guns and it was also thought that the lighthouse was less open to attack at Whaler's Point.Black and white photo.
