By 1960/61 all the factors operating against a narrow gauge railway were in place for the Colac-Beech Forest line. As well as using a 2-6-2 Tank engine over 60 years old, 14A, the train by this stage only had a louvre van, two NQ trucks and a guard's van to bring to Colac. Gellibrand station became the railhead for traffic to the Carlisle River and Lardners, as well as the centre of timber and fruit trade. Outward loading was substantial at the time the photograph was taken. Sawn and split timber, firewood, sleepers and piles were loaded in large quantities. The general expansion in traffic led in October 1923 to the laying of an additional loop siding and provision for a goods shed., B/W. In August 1873, four of the crew were killed and the other four injured when the Pilot schooner Rip was overwelmed in heavy seas at the Heads. Worn by Elizabeth Goodwin of Liverpool, England, who married Horace Book at St Andrew's Church, Brighton in 1921. The fabric was purchased by her father, a ship's captain, when he was in China. The bride had her dress made in Liverpool and made to a Butterick's pattern. Elizabeth was very active in public life and a well-known member of the Book family. Wedding dress made from cream silk purchased in China. The bodice is made of fine silk embroidered tulle with a vest of cream silk that floats over the top. The fishing boat "Amaryllis" was built by the Haldane Brothers in 1935 on Griffith Island for their own use while they were lighthouse keepers. The boat was a well boat RFB 1260 on the Port Fairy register 1936 - 1943 in the name of W.H.Haldane She was owned and operated by the brothers until she was requisitioned by the armed services during 1943.
