Tony HANNING (1950- ) Dr Tony Hanning is an internationally recognised glass artist whose work is represented in all major collections in Australia and many overseas collections including the V&A Museum in London and the Tacoma Art Museum in the USA. The imagery in Tony Hanning's work often is representative of the Gippsland landscape. He has a PhD from Mondash University (2008), a Master of Arts from Monash University (1998); and a Diploma, Visual Arts, Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education, Monash University, Melbourne (1971). A concise and interesting story of the Loveday internment group Barmera SA with first hand knowledge and donated to the Museum by its author Ern Whitmore, born 1899. The forward by Lt. E. T Dean DSO VD is particularly worthy of note.A 32 page manuscript each enclosed in an individual clear plastic envelope. The top half of the front page "internment in South Australia" which is superimposed on an indistinct plan of probably be an internment camp. The lower half has a sentry with rifle in a sentry box overlooking a camp at night. The 22 copies of Brennessel were the property of Internee Brulle, who was repatriated to Britain during the War. The copies were given to Pastor Ewald Steiniger, Pastor at the Lutheran Trinity Church in Melbourne. Steineger's son donated them to the Tatura Museum..Typed, roneod newsletters written in German with numerous sketches of camp life and identities.
