Yields information about the early staff of the Electric Supply Co. of Victoria following the electrification of the tramways and their appearance.Laminated Black and white print from a copy negative of a group of ESCO employees (motormen conductors and pointsboys?) in front of the tram depot with tram cars 17, 10 and 2 behind. All wearing uniform hats, but not all wearing full uniform (no badges but wearing ties - possibly temporary or casual staff - c1906 - 51 people. Print from a copy negative (N13), made early 1997 for display purposes and laminated. Has four Velcro dots on rear. Horse tram has three horses in harness, with about 30 men and boys, passengers, standing around or on the horse tram. Vine Hotel advertisement on the modesty panel of the tramcar. Certificate - Certificate - copy, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), Jun. 1968
Carbon copy of a certificate or a notice of the event of SEC Ballarat No. 27 reaching a million miles in service in Ballarat at 3.10pm on 29 June 1968. Gives details of the tram history and signed by Mr. L. J. Denmead, Departmental Tramways Supt., Mr. F. K. White, Branch Manager and Mr. A. N. Smith, Engineer and Manager. Typed on copy paper with a faint watermark "EURNT BANR MADE IN AUST". Was attached on donation to item 1850, with a pin in top left hand corner. Separated for storage. See image file for arrangement on donation. Note: Later review by D. Macartney in early 80's? found that the SEC had miscalculated the distance travelled by 100,000 miles. Preprinted Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board form with rounded corners, as a Certificate of Service for Leslie James Denmead, dated 29 Dec. 1948. Form 3/278, July 1947 typed with Name, positions held and dates From to Until. All entries have been underlined in red. Gives date of leaving, conduct and service ("Excellent") and signatures of person and Manager. Held positions of Conductor, Bus Driver, Bus starter, Inspector. Signed by L. J. Denmead and by J. Rigaldi (?) District Officer, for the Manager, F. G. Wraith. Sheet has a watermark "BANK M EXTRA STRONG" Not in good condition, has been repaired with 'sticky tape' and is torn. Yields information about the tram painted for the centenary of the discovery of gold in Ballarat and the official launch of the tram. Significance would be higher if names of people known.1116 - Colour copy print of a colour photograph of SEC Ballarat No. 18 painted in gold and white for the centenary of the Borough of Sebastopol. Taken outside the Sebastopol Town Hall possibly at the time of its launch, as the driver and conductor are standing by the tram and a lady with a name tag next to one of the crew. Taken by Mrs. V. Butler in 1964 on a colour slide, from which print taken from. Tram has gold paint on the end and side panels with the "1864 1964" on the end panel and "100" on the side panel. Tram showing destination of "Lydiard St. Nth" indicating it was possibly a service tram. 2944.1 - A4 size sheet of white paper, printed up as a BTPS (BTM) conductor's Revenue Journal for Adults fares as $1.50c, Children $0.80 and all day cards $3.00. Standard BTPS Revenue Journal format that was altered as necessary for the various fares. Known as form T2. Form titled for the "Ballarat Tramways" and has been used on Sunday 29/12/1991 by Andrew Mitchell. Gives the opening and closing numbers, total number issued, pay in values and total cash. Signed by A. Mitchell. 2944.2 - ditto, completed by Austin Brehaut on 15/1/1991, when fares were Adult $1, children 50c and All Day cards - $2.00. 2944.3 - ditto on green paper, completed by P. Mong 9/3/1997, when fares were $1.50 for Adults, 80c for Children and $3.00 for All Day cards. Pamphlet - printed on off white paper titled "Fare Increases and You", advising of the Fare increase on August 29 (1971 - see Reg Item 2024.2 and image i2), and whether it was justified. Notes increases in fares compared to fares between 1949 and 1971, closure of the Ballarat and Bendigo, asking people to approach their Members of Parliament. Authorised by S. E. Edwards, Secretary, Victorian Tramways Union. Notes Henry Bolte as Premier. Also notes the reduction in passenger numbers from 1949 to 1971.
