Set of six documents associated with a Wattle Park band recital by the AIF Legion of Anzacs band on Sunday 17 October 1943 in support of the 4th Liberty Loan. .1 - printed poster advertising the afternoon and travel by tram from Princes Bridge. .2 - duplicated notice from the Assistant Manager to Depots dated 13/10/1943 about the bus to be used to transport band members from Elizabeth St to Wattle Park - Central Bus Depot - notes the bus had been specially prepared for the event. .3 - typed notice from the District Traffic Superintendent to Hawthorn and Camberwell depots about special trams for the event and arrangements for conductors. Signed by J. M. Harry rubber stamp. .4 - hand written in blue indelible pencil on ruled paper, the table for the special cars for the event. .5 - hand written notes on heavy card of timing and loading on trams at Glenferrie Road. Booklet - 38 pages, printed on off white page, centre stapled, titled "Directory and Tramway Guide issued by the Hawthorn Tramways Trust", specifically advertising Wattle Park and showing Princes Bridge and the Yarra on the front cover and a photo of Hawthorn depot on the rear cover. Gives details of Wattle Park, its opening, many photos, members of the Trust, Engineer and Manager and Acting Secretary, Stopping points for the round and fares to Wattle Park, section fares, maps of the tram routes and connections with other tramways and railway stations. Has timetables for Burnley and other major points, special and emergency services, the coloured lights used on the trams, and a map for land sales at Riversdale Heights estate. Advertisements for Mutual stores, Melbourne Electric Supply Co., Moule, Hamilton and Kindle for the sale of land at Riversdale Heights and a map showing the estate location. Both copies have alterations or corrections to the route signage letters - marked in red - from the Minutes of the HTT Board meetings, the Trust were not happy with the finished product and was reluctant to pay for them - see Minutes of Meeting No. 99 of 5-7-1918. Twenty page book including paper covers titled "Australia's First Electric Tram" written by John Kinmont Moir and published by Traction Publications, second edition, 1950. The story of the Doncaster and Box Hill Electric Road (tramway). Publishers Note on page 3 that the first edition of the book was published by Mr. Moir at his own expense - this edition is a reproduction of the first and uses some of the printing blocks. Red covers, poster advertising the tramway, a map, foreword written by J.K. Moir about Mr. H. J. Hilton who operated the tramway, the birth of the tramway, the company that was formed to operate it, , a sample ticket, opening, operation, timetable, reminiscences of H. J. Hilton. Includes notes on the subsequent work of Mr. Hilton, and on the back cover a details of the AETA , office bearers, publications and contact details. Includes a number of photographs. Set of documents associated with the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant that commenced operations in 1982 and ceased in 2018 due to dispute with Yarra Trams over the safety of the tramcars. It was a very popular operation. See reference for further details. Item 1 - notes the September 1984 Tourism Award, item 2 and 3 are promotional pamphlets. The Museum has other similar documents from different dates in its collection. Set of 7 Agfa Colour slides, cardboard mounts, by Keith Caldwell dated 11.3.1962 of the transfer of cars from Footscray to the "Main System" the day after the system was closed. See Keith Kings history of Footscray notes. All trams running trolley wheels. .1 - Footscray depot cars X1 463, X2 678, X1 460 and X1 466 in Gordon St, about to turn into River Street. .2 - X2 678 turning from Nicholson St into Irving St. Footscray with the Rockmans Store in the background. This store was later demolished for the Ring Road. Also is J. Boltons Chemist shop advertising Kodak film and another shop advertising Darrell Lea Chocolates, Peters Icecream and ? Lopes fruit shop. .3 - X1 460 at same location. .4 - X2 678 crossing Maribyrnong River Bridge - note the person crouching down on the south side of the bridge behind the tram. .5 - X1 460 in Rosamond Road, just before the curve onto Williamson Rd. This site became the Bunnings site. The tram has a modified 21E truck. .6 - X2 468 as above with part of the curve in the view. Flag made from one layer of cotton, sewn edges, sewn into a white cotton circular section with an cloth cap and then slipped over the dowel and held in position with a single tack. Done on a Sunday morning. .1 - 912 in Flinders St with Flinders St station, platform 1 west in the background - slide dated May 1973. .2 - tram 1018, without the tram protrusion on the top of the car body as in 912 at Victoria Parade and Brunswick St. Tram 644, City Brunswick St, in the background.
