The Merle Bush Trefoil Guild was registered in Bendigo on 18/06/1981.The decision to disband the Merle Bush Trefoil Guild was made at a General Meeting on 17/02/2016. The group agreed to continue as the Merle Bush Friendship Group. The Australian Trefoil Guilds connect women who are either actively involved in Girl Guiding or have a history with Girl Guiding. Track cycle won by Jack Phillips 1929 in the Melbourne - Ballarat - Geelong - Melbourne Road Race. This was the first open road race won by a Geelong Amateur Cyclist. The Amateur Cycling Club was formed in 1929. This bike was restored by Ken Dickie who did his apprenticeship in fine line restorations and the painting was by Fred Cook. Hand grips by Harry Clarke. They used photographs from Jack Phillips of the original bike to restore the bike to its original colours and appearance.Track cycle one by Jack Phillips - the first of the big open road races won by an amateur.Restored Malvern Start Road Bike from 1929. Painted in red with the words Malvern Star highlighted in white on a blue background on the frame. The stem features two silver stars on a blue background. Single speed with wooden wheel rims. Electric fans were used for cooling rooms prior to air conditioning.This fan was used by S.E.C.V. office workers working on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. Small electric swivel fan. This heavy black metal fan has 4 curved 'wings' covered by protecting wire consisting of 2 wire rings joined by 6 curved pieces of wire covering the sides and front. Attached to the motor that can swivel and to the base is a black rubber covered electric cord. The base forms a stand with a control knob for speed and swivel options. The bicycle is one of the last bicycles hand made and assembled by 'Mr. Rob' c1960 prior to the mass manufacture and overseas imports of 'built up' bicycles. On closing down in September 1999 'Mr Rob' presented this bicycle to the Nunawading Historical and another to the Victorian Museum.Boy's 26 inch bicycle fitted with Dunlop tyres, bell, mudguards, handgrips, leather seat, rear reflector and a ' faboati' coaster hub.
