The Carving was created by an artist in residence at the Bendigo Psychiatric Centre ( Golden City Support Services) prior to closure. It is approximately 1.5metres high and 1.00metre wide. Mounted on a Large green wooden board. See 7312 also. Items represent the constellations Capricorn and Aquila. Vincent Kelly (1877-1958) was a photographer in Mitchell Street, operating from 1904 until his death in 1958. As well as general photography he was renowned for war-time portraits of soldiers. A sketch of his photograph of underground miners was used on the reverse side of the 1913 1 pound note.Nameplate from Vincent Kelly Photographers, Bendigo. "Fentongove" is situated at 3 Staley Street, California Gully. The home was built in 1867 for Mr Richard Williams who was the mine manager for the Johnsons Reef Mining Company for 36 years. Richard first worked for George Lansell, where he was the manager of a number of mines. He then went to Johnson's Reef Gold Mines as General Mine Manager, where he worked for 36 years. Richard was born in Cornwall in 1831 and died in Bendigo in September, 1903.
