The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. It was the first independent school of nursing in Victoria and continued until it closed in 1989.There are eight typed copy pages of Minutes of Conference convened by Nurses' Board of Victoria, Hospital and Charities Commission, NDSN and associated hospitals 15th February 1957. Chairman of the Nurses Board gave an overview of the setup and continuation of the NDSN. The photograph was taken at a conference of expatriate Ithacan Greeks which took place in Vathi, Ithaca on 17 July 1976. Stathi Raftopoulos attended the conference and is seated at the table, second from the right.A conference of expatriate Ithacan Greeks indicates the close ties which remained between the Ithacans who remained in Greece and those who had settled in other countries. In 1960, the World Assembly of Youth (WAY) conference was held in Accra, Ghana. The Australian YCW sent two delegates to the conference, Ernie Smith (back row, end right) and Betty King (second row, third from left). Around 400 representatives of youth organisations - including national YCW movements - from around the globe attended the conference. This photograph shows the YCW delegates the WAY 1960. Father Ernie Smith, initiated the establishment of the Sacred Heart Mission in St Kilda, Melbourne. This photograph is copied from his personal collection.

The Teenager, His Family and His Peers was a paper presented to the 1968 Federal Conference of the Legacy Clubs of Australia by Legatee John Hall of Melbourne Legacy (held in Ballarat from 7th to 10th November 1968). By resolution of the Conference it was printed by Legacy Co-ordinating Council for distribution upon their request to Legacy Clubs. It was stored with another paper presented at the 1968 Conference 'The Fundamentals of Legacy' which had the notation H51 in blue pen to show that it was part of the archive project that was trying to capture the history of Legacy.
