Third Annual Report of the Footscray Tramway Trust, for the year ending 30/9/1919. Lists the Trust Members, Consulting Engineers, and Secretary. Details the Trust's activities, finances, and a short review of activities noting the supply of energy from the Victorian Railways Newport Power Station. Engineering report by Christie & Gardiner detailing the construction, welding of joints, tar surfacing, substation equipment, fitting equipment to the seven ex HTT tramcars at Footscray, delivery of equipment for the tramcars, but a delay in the delivery of the trolley wire. There are four pages of accounts and one page for the Auditor's statement. Research Essay, possibly the final draft, by Leigh J Harding looking at the engine houses that powered the Melbourne cable tram system from an Engineering and Architectural viewpoint. Has pencil notations to where photographs would be placed. Provides details on the background to their construction by the Melbourne Tramways Trust in the 1880s. Includes notes on the land acquisition, site plan, internal layout plan and notes on the operations and disposal. Notes on the Essendon, Bendigo and Ballarat power stations are included. Report or list titled "Particulars of single truck cars & Suggested order in which they should be scrapped" Dated 26/4/1927. Seems that the 3rd and 4th sheets were initial drafts while the 1st and 2nd the later version, though still with some corrections. Lists car (tramcar) numbers, No. of cars, seating capacity, wheel base, horse power, type of car body - lists class, type of truck and type of equipment. The 3rd and 4th sheets also gave the weight in tons. List the cars that had already been scrapped. Typed report by Mr Alex Cameron of the PMTT titled "Chairman giving a comparison between Original and Revised estimate of Noyes Bros in regard to proposed tramways" Orginal Estimate dated May 1906, revised June 1907. One of the principal savings was the purchase of power from the Electric Traction and Lighting Co instead of building their own Power Station. Legislative Assembly of Victoria report dated 21/11/1922 looking at the provision of the SEC Bill, country areas power supply and the purchase of the North Melbourne Electric Tramways and Lighting Company's (NMETL) Works and undertakings. Gives costs of the purchase of the undertaking the Company and issues with Councils particularly the City of Melbourne who were running a rival power supply and the City of Essendon who it seems lost out on the whole deal. The photographs show SW6 tram 867 derailed at the Riversdale Road level crossing on 22/10/1976. The tram ran out of control in Riversdale Road due to the compressor not being turned on before running out to take up a Wattle Park run. This event resulted in trams being rewired so that power to the controller could not be obtained unless the compressor had been turned on. An extract from Electric Traction magazine, Nov. 1976 has been imaged. Tram 331 would have been used in rerailing. The track was reconstructed to realign the roadway as part of roadworks to eliminate a sharp curve at the intersection in Nov. 1973 1 - W2 605 turning from Power St into Riversdale Road before reconstruction of the corner. Shows the location of the tram stop. Slide no. MP120 2 - SW6 879 turns from Power St into Riversdale Rd with works underway. Slide No. MP154 3 - W2 380 at the revised intersection following the work to reconstruct the corner. Slide No. 98. The intersection has since been reconstructed and the crossover relocated. Sign regarding the operation of a Melbourne suburban train door that has been fitted with power closing doors, three colours, adhesive back with the name of the manufacturer "JBC" on the rear. Has two sheets of paper split in the middle that protected the sign until use.
