Frederick Ernest ADDLEM Initially enlisted as No V122087 in the CMF (57/60th Bn) on 16.9.1941. His New Guinea service is listed as from 8.3.1943 to 11.8.1944. While there he transfers to the 2nd AIF as VX142253 on 9.6.1943. WIA on 18.3.1944, GSW to heel, returns to duty classed medically “A1” on 11.8.1944. Fred then embarks for Bougainville and this service is classed from 1.1.1945 to 15.2.1946. While in Bougainville he is hospitalised twice, once with Dysentry and then with Dermatitis. He is discharged from the 2nd AIF on 1.4.1946. A complete replica uniform set of clothing and all items that were or could be worn by a first AIF soldier.Light horse brigade .1) Jacket, 100% wool with cotton lining. 7th Battalion AIF colour patches with a brass A signifying original ANZAC on both sleeves. Right sleeve has sergeant's stripes & 5 blue & 1 red chevron stripes. Left sleeve has 3 brass bars re WIA 3 times. Rising Sun badges on each collar & Australia badges on shoulder straps. Belted at waist. .2) Jodphurs, khaki corded wool. The mine was the “Hustlers Royal Reserve Mine No 2” and was closed in 1912. The Soldiers Memorial Institute was erected on the mine site and opened on 15.11.1921 and occupied by the Bendigo RSL Sub Branch/Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc since then. The mine shaft capped sits about centre of the building.Two gloss coloured prints on fibre board backing. Top photo tinted of Alexander Fountain, Charing Cross and Pall Mall Bendigo. Harold Jackson Bailey Burrell was known as (Harry). He served in the the 38th Batt pre WW11 (refer 297.2P). He then enlisted in the 2nd AIF No VX59659 on 30.7.41 age 20 years. He initially served in the 2/8th Armoured Regiment. They were disbanded and they moved to Royal Australian Engineers as part of Landing Craft Companies. Awarded the Military Medal over the period 9/10th June 1945 at Porton Bougainville. He was discharged from the AIF on 15.2.46. With the re introduction of CMF Training he re enlisted again No 3/92361 in 1948. Awarded the British Empire Medal in the Military Division on 1.1.1954.
