The office is one of 400 SkillShare projects across Australiawhich is smarting from Federal cutbacks of 20 per cent. About 5000 unemployed Victorians and 1000 SkillShare workers will be affected by the cuts. -

Newspaper Clipping from the ""Maroondah Mail", 15-5-1998", P 3, "School enjoys a Russian Cultural Experience"Year 8 students at Norwood Secondary College have been learning about Russian culture, thanks to a visitor from Chernobyl, Maxim Iouldashev (pictured with Simon and Glenn) was brought to Australia by the Victims of Chernobyl National Relief Fund. He is spending three weeks with the school in Croydon, while staying with a host family in Ringwood. -

North Ringwood teenager Simone Kuppler has taken her walking a long way and competed in several competitive walking events. At the August Australian all-schools championships in Perth, Simone blitzed the competition by walking 3km in just over 15 minutes. Simone said "that time was nothing to skite about. I was sick during the race...." -

Article by Janine JonesThe owner of land approved for a controversial aged care development at Heatherdale Rd, Vermont, has hit out at objectors to the project. Ringwood Council approved revised plans for the hostel at 177 Heatherdale Rd, Vermont, after a year of negotiations with the applicants, Lois and Bob McDonough. Council received 14 objections from neighbouring residents to the development. -

Written on backing of photograph, 'RAE band from Kapooka, N.S.W. 7/3/65. "Freedom" 3rd Div. Eng.' Two photographs and two extra slightly cropped versions. Handwritten on the back of 11168-4 "The Royal Australian Engineers Corps Band from Kapooka (NSW) moved into position near four Mounted Troopers during a march through Ringwood on March 27. The troopers supported Police Inspector A. Angus, who acted as Town Marshall to challenge 200 Members of the Royal Australian Engineers, 3rd Division. The Regiment gained entry to the City by the production of a Freedom of the City Scroll presented by the Mayor of Ringwood (Cr. B.J. Hubbard)." -

Council hit over kinder 'lock-out'.A North Ringwood kindergarten president has slammed the Maroondah Council for locking her out of the kindergarten without notice. Oban pre-school President, Liz Broadbentsaid she arrived at the kindergarten last Thursday to find the locks had been changed. A council spokeswoman has admitted the lock change was an oversight and the original locks have since been replaced. -

The denial comes in spite of an upsurge in crimes of deception and theft in Maroondah during 1996. Ringwood Senior Detective Glenn Powell last week said there had been "a few minor cases but nothing major in terms of gambling related crime".`
