Newspaper, The Sun?, "These 6 retired yesterday - after 240 years on job", mid 1950's
Newspaper clipping, photocopied on an A4 sheet from an unknown paper - possibly early 1950's and The Sun about the retirement of Arthur Hill, as the tramway shunter at Elizabeth St. First with cable trams, then electric trams, assisting with poles to do quick turn-arounds. Titled "These 6 retired yesterday - after 240 years on job" Has a photo of him in uniform cap badge Number 1975. Noelle Jones (30/7) advised by email: It's not in Trove, so it either came from the Sun, which is not digitised, or it is after the mid 1950s (which is the most recent digitisation of the other major papers). Les Hill was active in the 1950s as a bowler for South Melbourne (from Trove). So the clipping would have to be 1950s at the earliest."
