This extraordinary record of the student cohort in 1933 reveals aspects of school life in the early 1930's. It shows young boys from the Kindergarten class, uniform and property detail. This photograph has social significance because of its detail regarding schooling in the early 1930s. Black and white photograph mounted on grey card of Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies College student cohort in 1933. The students are arranged in five tiered rows. The photograph is taken in the Mair Street quadrangle. The photograph is accompanied with a typed list of names. -

Edgar Edwardes Walker was the founding manager of the Australian Brick, Tile and Tesselated Tile Company, which began operations in Mitcham in 1886. Changed to the Australian Tesselated Tile Company in 1895, Walker became owner in 1922. It became the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. He was a Nunawading Shire Councillor for 25 years and several times Shire President. It was acquired by the Presbyterian Church in 1911, relinquished in 1919 and re-acquired by the Presbyterian Church of Victoria in 1956. It amalgamated with Alexandra College in the 1962.
