Object. 4.5 cms long pin from top clasp. Top clasp has brass ends, with leaf engraving. A 3 cm long panel in the centre is finished with light blue enamel, engraved with ''50 YEARS''. The lower clasp is gold and blue enamel engraved SERVICE. Below hangs a 3.5 cm diameter star pointed medallion, in the centre of which is a coat of arms, showing three lions, five stars(Southern Cross?) On a blue enamel background are the words'' Ancient Free And Accepted Masons VICTORIA. Edwin Burston's father was B. J. Burston, conductor of the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra in 1896.The Strand Musical Magazine, Volume III, January to June 1896. The inside front cover has a certificate outlining it was presented to Edwin Burston, at Gravel Hill State School No.1566, for School Choir: First Prize, Astral Competitions, Bendigo May 1897. The book has a grey hardcover with black, red, blue inscriptions and pictures on the cover. The spine has gold and black inscriptions and pictures, and the back cover is blank. Chinese gold scales. Wooden scale holder (a) two part wooden device secured at end of handle with a metal pin to allow swivelling of both pieces. At end of handle, two pieces 'violin' shaped to hold scale and weights. This enabled placement of scales within holder. Bottom piece has indent for scale pan, weight and long handle.
