Hair and beard clipping was frequently carried out at home prior to WW11 and often much later in rural areas. Manual hair clippers were readily available for purchase. Brown's Clippers were a popular choice for many Australian men. This company was based in BIrmingham, England and operated from 1939 until the end of the 1950s. This item has significance as a common item for men both domestically and commercially in the middle decades of the 20th century.A set of manual hair clippers made of chromed steel. Clothing - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: PAIR OF SATIN BUTTON - UP BOOTS, Mid to late 1800's

Clothing. Deep cream silk (?) satin button-up boots/shoes. Immaculate, tiny stitching. Low, Louie shaped heel. Ankle high boots. Buttoning opening on the outside edge-eight scallops each finely bound and stitched. Each fastened by a tiny 8mm domed painted button, and an immaculate, stitched buttonhole. Sadly, the satin has split, on each opening panel. Some colouring has been chipped from the buttons. Inside it would appear that the satin has a linen backing or lining.Inside is a gold stamp F.PINET. PARIS Also is a stamp, J.WATTS 23 BOURKE ST. EAST MELBOURNE. 25 1/2 3.
