Cr. John Ferrier-Hamilton (1852-1911) was elected Councillor for the North Ward in Brighton in 1882, becoming Mayor in 1886. Due to ill health he retired from council in 1900 but re-entered council in 1904, becoming Mayor again in 1906. He was commissioner of the Metropolitan Board of Works for five years. Eugene Carl Sandner was born in Bendigo in 1906. He was associated with the Bendigo and Northern District Base Hospital from 1935 – 1983 including Acting City Medical Officer in 1942 and serving as Medical Officer for 48 years. He was President of the Committee of Management from 1979- 1981. Dr Sandner retired from full time practice as a surgeon in 1971 and was first elected to council in August 1976 and elected Mayor of Bendigo for the 1978 – 79 term. Hand drawn cartoon by local cartoonist Ian Glanville which appeared in the Bendigo Advertiser around August 1979.This is one operation I have to / walk away from ...! Electoral roles help to locate the residential address of a person in a particular year or over a period of years. Edward O’Donnell's service as a St. Kilda Councillor included six terms as mayor. The dinner, held by the City of St Kilda at the George hotel on 10 October 1928, celebrated his 40 years of service. The program includes a record of his service, the menu, toasts, and autographs of people who attended. He served for another four years, and left after being defeated in the council elections in 1932.Booklet with a white folded card cover, discoloured with age, printed in blue with gold decoration.
