The event was the Sunbury Fair, which was staged on the Sunbury Village Green every year in March. A parade through the town took place in the morning and in the afternoon, community groups mounted displays on the Village Green. A series of early twentieth century photographs were sourced and reprinted on to chipboard panels for use by the Royal Blind Society of NSW publicity department, to demonstrate the work and activities that blind people did at the Sydney Industrial Blind Institute (later RBS NSW, now Vision Australia). The Old Station Homestead site at Corringle Beach was a popular destination for Orbost people to have picnics late 19Century. A photo of a group of people at a Stan Savige's property in Balnarring. It appears to be a Legatee function and is the same building that is in the photo at 00398 which says No 7 Legacy Club Somers. The man standing on the right hand side could be Legatee Stan Savige. Legatee Savige had a beach side property that he allowed to be used for summer camps and outings by Legacy. In the early years of Legacy there were camps and picnics. Blamey House (purchased 1947) , Stanhope (purchased 1945) and Harelands (purchased 1950) were residences run by Melbourne Legacy to take care of children whose fathers were servicemen, and who may have been left orphans, or whose mother may have been unable to care for them herself. Harelands accomodated boys and girls under the age of 14, Blamey House looked after boys over 14, and Stanhope looked after girls over 14. The children were cared for until they were old enough to become independent. The photo was taken after February 1972 but exact date is not known. The couple in this photo Bob Wight, who was the Superintendent of the house with his wife Jane. Later Bob died and Jane took on the role of supervisor.
