Robin Boyd was involved in creating several TV series for the ABC University of the Air. 'Design in Australia' was an eight part series. (Items D184-D193 contain all the manuscripts except part six titled 'Communications'.) In part 8, Boyd concludes his lecture with an overview of the state of Australian design. Boyd points to the uniqueness of Australia's natural landscapes and asks a series of pointed questions, implying that Australian design does not reflect or match up to its context. In Boyd's view, Australia now produces world-class designers, but lacks a world-class design culture, leading the best professionals to leave for the US or UK. The Puffing Billy Preservation Society came into existence by a popular desire to retain something of our narrow gauge railway past, leisurely in this age but a boon to the sparsely settled areas it served in the past. It served the Wangaratta-Whitefield line, the Upper Ferntree Gully-Gembrook line, the Colac-Beech Forest-Crowes line, and the Moe-Walhalla line, the last railway line served being the Colac-Beech Forest line. None of these railways were a paying proposition but they played an important part in the areas they served. Nowadays, the last bit of line is a portion of the Upper Ferntree Gully-Gembrook line, from Belgrave to Lakeside, run by the Society. The newsletter from August 1955. It featured a portrait of Queen Elizabeth painted by William Dargie on the cover. The president's introduction talked about the Commonwealth of Nations. There was an article about the Anzac Eve ceremony for students. Also holidays essays and photos from holiday camps at Ararat. A newsletter published by Legacy in this format for many years from 1942. It mentions "Issued from time to time for Private Circulation among the Sons and Daughters of Deceased Service men and Merchant Seamen who served their Country during the War of 1914-18, or the present War". TThe touching finale was "We'll not break faith", a massed item presented by Junior Legatees from all classes, with the band in the background under a large Legacy sign. The photo was featured in the December 1958 newsletter. Acts included combined boys' vaulting item, the Dances of Spain (Fiesta Flamenco), the Western Symphony by the senior girls. This clock was owned by Mr Bruce Scott, the late husband of the donor. Mr Scott studied wool classing at the Melbourne Technical College in the 1930s. It is not known how this clock came to be in his possession. The clock was presented to Mr W.
