Portland Post Office Clock. Case is apparently new.Large mantle clock made from dark wood. Front door has a large glass pane with roman numerals in gold affixed to interior of glass. Benevolent Asylums also served as immigrants' homes, blind asylums, orphanages, lying-in hospitals and lunatic asylums. Benevolent asylums were often associated with hospitals in rural towns; they have evolved into aged care homes and hospitals in larger towns.
