The photo, taken in the 1950s, was mounted on card to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Parkdale Methodist Church in 1984.The weatherboard church was constructed in 1926. In the 1950s a brick veneer hall was added on one side and in 1961 the old church was brick veneered and tiled. Rev. Francis Robert Muter Wilson was born in 1832 near Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He entered Edinburgh University in 1848 and started theological studies in 1852 at New College Edinburgh. He completed theological studies in 1856 and arrived in Melbourne in September 1857. He briefly preached to a small congregation at Brighton, and then early in 1858 he supplied the pulpit of Dr. McKay in Sydney. Later in 1858 he received a call to Camperdown and was ordained there in December 1858. Married Lillie Tait in Geelong in April 1861. Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria in 1875. Called to Kew in 1877 and served there until he was demitted in 1898. Convenor of the Business Committee of Assembly. Rev. Peter Mackie was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 13 August 1929. He was educated in Scotland. After spending 2 years in compulsory military service he entered Edinburgh University, graduating Master of Arts. His theological education was at New College, Edinburgh. After qualifying, he spent two years in Leith as assistant to the Rev. David Easton. In 1957 he married Elizabeth Dowling, an Australian. In 1961 Peter Mackie with his wife and 2 children came to Australia. In 1962 he was inducted into the Charge of Bamawm-Lockington, near Echuca. In 1965 he was called to Kew. Horace Henry Gowty (1903 - 1981). Started preaching whilst a member of Christian Endeavour. Served as a local preacher at Meatian, in the Mallee. At the age of 47 became a Home Missionary in the Methodist Church, serving at Lalbert, Birchip, Fitzroy and Alice Springs. On returning to Victoria he went to Poowong. He was ordained in 1967 at the age of 63, and went to Deloraine in Tasmania. On retiring, he and his wife moved to Berriwillock. He died at Sea Lake in 1981.B & W photograph of the Rev.
