The front of the manual is a blue coloured plastic with a clear plastic section near the top. The back of the manual is a grey coloured cardboard cover, the spine of the many is held together with a white plastic spiral. Through the window you can see the word Air and part of the word publication. These buttons and lapel wings were issued either by the English Royal Australian Air Force or the Royal Australian Air Force and probably date from pre-World War Two. The Royal Australian Air Force is the aerial section of the Australian Defence Force and was established in 1921. It succeeded the formation of the Australian Flying Corps in 1912. Royal Australian Air Force officer’s cap.Navy cotton drill peaked cap with black crossgrain band around exterior. Two black eyelets sit above band on either side. Black patent leather chin strap attached by two gold buttons on brim, slightly misshapen. Embroidered patch carrying a red velvet and metal crown (Queen Elizabeth II era) with blue, green and red embroidered knots mimicing jewels, sits above a gold eagle above now tarnished gold leaves. Interior sweatband in patent leather with plastic layer on top interior, underneath which is a manufacturer’s label with red ink.
