The Kew Historical Society's postcard collection includes views of Kew, Melbourne and Greater Melbourne as well as those including overseas scenes sent or received from Europe or the Middle East. They date from the 1890s to the 2000s.Modern postcard produced by the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria. The photo is of a replica tram in Victoria's Tramway Museum, and was presumably purchased for display purposes for an exhibition relating to transport in Kew, and in particular to the Kew horse-tram which operated from the Victoria Street Bridge to the Boroondara General Cemetery in Kew.This replica tram, constructed by members Alan Antcliff and Newton Williams in Mildura represents the open car used between Sydney Road and the Royal Melbourne Zoological Gradens until 1923. Denis Gibbons (1937 – 2011) Trained with the Australian Army, before travelling to Vietnam in January 1966, Denis stayed with the 1st Australian Task Force in Nui Dat working as a photographer. For almost five years Gibbons toured with nine Australian infantry battalions, posting compelling war images from within many combat zones before being flown out in late November 1970 after sustaining injuries. The images held within the National Vietnam Veterans Museum make up the Gibbons Collection. A black and white photograph of Lucky Star and Digby Richards along with members of their concert party, leave the Champa Museum in Danag following a visit during a rare break in the concert tour. Colour slide of VR class tram 53, route 30, westbound in La Trobe St on the bypass built to enable the construction of the Melbourne Central or Museum station between Dec 1973 and 1978 - see reference. The concrete looks relatively new in the photograph. The tram was originally built by the Victorian Railways for their St Kilda Brighton tramway in 1942. It is currently on display at the Melbourne Tram Museum. Many of the buildings in the background have since been demolished. This building is part of the Federation University SMB Campus, and was given an Art Deco Three pages relating for a request to obtain rifles, war trophies amd similar from the Ballarat School of Mines Museum. The chairs together with a large table originally were used by the Phillip Island Council for monthly shire meetings in the old shire hall in Thompson Avenue. When the new offices opened on the corner of Church Street & Thompson Avenue in 1978 modern furniture was installed. They were then donated to the Historical Society.
