This photograph shows a group of students from Orbost Higher Elementary School performing Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice". The cast consisted of Doreen Hungerford playing Portia; Mick Spink as Shylock;On the left in the photograph is Roy Cameron and on the right is Alan Richardson. Also included are wig Rodwell; Bill Fisher; Jack Cameron; Mollie Dreverman and B. Rickards. During 1910-11 the first approaches were made to the Department for the establishment of a HES in Orbost and this became a reality in 1912. Orbost HES supplied post-primary education in the district until a high school was built in 1948.Orbost High School / Orbost Secondary College has played a significant part in the education of senior students in the Orbost district . This display at the 1992 Wildflower Show in the Halls Gap Hall replicated the D'Alton home "Glenbower". The seated mannequin represents Henrietta D'Alton (artist) and the standing mannequin represents Ellen D'Alton. For further information about "Glenbower" and the Misses D'Alton see "Victoria's Wonderland", pp 79 & 123. ** the two copies are also originals, the third original is a slightly closer view of the display.The photo shows a stage display - a house has been set up to replicate "Glenbower". Two mannequins dressed in period costume are in front of the house, one standing and one seated at a table. A flower garden has been created around the scene and a mural showing rocky peaks can be seen in the background. Photograph of a Legacy Demonstration at the Melbourne Town Hall. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and eurythmics, the Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to the 1980's, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall or Olympic Pool Stadium. The beautiful costumes were made by members of the Junior Legacy Mothers' Club and the Melbourne Legacy Wives' Association. The Tally Ho Business Park was built on vacant land previously owned by the Methodist Church. The land was sold cheaply to the Church by Abel Hoadley, and the Tally Ho Boys Home was erected there. A change in the care of the boys meant that the land became vacant for a considerable time before buildings appeared.
