Sign - Piece of sheet steel folded to give an upstand or method of attachment to a pole, enamelled with red, white and black paint for use at tram stops. Small red band at top, white band with letters "HAIL CARS HERE" and small red band underneath, on both sides to indicate to drivers a non-compulsory stop. Same sign used for same purpose in Ballarat. Digital image of "Electric Tram Driver's Certificate No. 407", issued to D. (Daniel) Patience, signed by G. Barker Instructor, with "A. W. Murdoch" stamp authorising the document, dated 23/3/1929. Donated by Betty (daughter - aged 90) and Cheryl Williams (grand daughter) of Daniel. Reported to have been the first driver leaving the then new Camberwell depot. Born in Avoch Scotland, was a police constable there, before emigrating to Melbourne. Was a cable tram Gripman in the Albert Park Area. Became an electric tram driver, then signalman at St Kilda Junction and trained as an inspector, but did not like the green uniform. Ran in the Stawell Gift of 1925 (injured foot during the race), was a Navigator on Transport RAF/RAAF flights during WW2. War memorabilia to the War Memorial Canberra. MMTB decal - "Please step inside" for the use on the exterior of tramcars, glued transfer adhered to a sheet of gloss paper on one side and plain on the other with the transfer instructions made by Selex Decal in the 1970's, with alignment marks on the rear. Has the Selex Decal logos on the rear and the number "098051751" along the bottom edge. Refer to MMTB Drawing R10-138 for a drawing. Postcard - full colour, Divided back type of Swanston St looking North just before the Flinders St intersection, with Young and Jackson Hotel and many neon signs in the background. Tram 756 with destination of Moreland and Route 15 is in the view. Note the wood planks in between the rails at the stop, possibly at the time that the bridge over the rail lines was being rebuilt. Appears to have a The Met tram stop sign on the safety zone. Possibly late 1980's. Photo of tram 27 by the Ballarat Courier. Date of Photo. 29/6/1968, taken prior to the TMSV Tour of that date. Black and white photograph of a group of the passengers on No. 27 during the celebration of the tram reaching 1,000,000 (million) miles in Ballarat.
